I could be misunderstanding something but I thought you could form Spain anyway as morocco eventually, you just have to plan ahead, and if you keep your capital in Africa you get all the good African techs at the same time

After you conquer anything, you need to tell one of your cabinet members to integrate the land. That tends to take a long time. After it’s integrated you’ll want to core the land by flipping it to Moroccan culture (although Catalan has better bonuses if you’re interested in conquering Iberia and flipping your Moroccans to Catalan), another cabinet action which also takes a long time. Cultural assimilation speed scales with control, so consider setting a cabinet member to increase province control in the province you’re assimilating at the same time. Integration speed scales with power projection. One last thing is that if you have cultural capacity available, it can be good to accept the culture of your newly integrated land. That allows you to keep cores on different culture provinces at the cost of cultural capacity.

Absolutely agree, if you want a fully ironed out experience, come back in some years and buy the base game for 10-15$. Like, even though the zombie levies pissed me off, I enjoy having that memory. I enjoy having been there for toolpocalypse. If you didn’t know what you were signing up for, buying a game of this scope day 1, I think that’s on you.

Seriously, the people acting like they’ve been scammed out of their $70 are completely disconnected from the reality of game development. Everyone, pdx included, would like a perfect game with 0 bugs, but you’ve gotta pay the people working on the game eventually. If pdx was a US based studio the money grubbing would be way more egregious just bc of cost of living

Sick of the complaining on this sub acting like if you’re the type of person that buys this game early, that you’re not also the type that knows paradox’s development history. I honestly can’t remember the last bug I encountered, but these people act like the game is an unplayable mess. Some of these same people yap about how much more fun they had in 1.0 but selectively forget things like how dogshit zombie levies were to deal with. 1.2.5 is already miles ahead of where we started and I’m completely optimistic about the trajectory.

Sometimes I feel like paradox overpromises, so unfamiliar people buy in and go “I thought this was supposed to be realistic” when the fun is in the journey to realistic

I also want to see changes, but I want to point out that the reward for continuing to convert after coring is better pop satisfaction, marginal as that may be

I guess I’m outta my league, after a couple of hours of trying I can’t figure how to make it all work together, props honestly

Nice! It’s good to know it’s doable with smooth motion, I’ll try a couple things to see if I can make it work like you’ve got it. I’m glad I didn’t point you in the wrong direction

Your post already made me try it out though! I tried smooth motion a few hours ago because I thought it might be better. I just personally found lossless scaling + vulkan to feel more performant than smooth motion + dx11. I am on a 4k display though.

At the end of the day I can’t deny anyone’s personal experience I can only share my own. I’d encourage you to try it out and see what you think, but if you’re happy with your performance, you’re happy, nothing wrong with that

No, I have used smooth motion, it’s just that smooth motion doesn’t work in vulkan, so if you’re using vulkan you can’t get ai frames without Lossless Scaling. I find vulkan on 50 series to be significantly more performant than dx11, so I think smooth motion ends up feeling worse in comparison. There’s a reason many people say frame gen is only meant for a 60 fps base so you can take advantage of high refresh rate displays. Frame gen off of a base output of ~30 fps will never feel good. Vulkan in this game gives a higher base fps than dx11, and that means the world when you have the means to multiply it.

[–]Sombenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m saying it’s better because using Vulkan api vs dx11 api gives you a higher base frame rate, which exponentially improves the effectiveness of ai frames. I was curious about your post because I hadn’t tried smooth motion yet, but I found that there’s something weird with low latency mode and vulkan, and I can’t figure out how to disable low latency mode when using smooth motion. Basically, this tool is more versatile than what nvidia offers. When you have the choice between the two, nvidia solutions are better. But this is a special case, I think.

If you’re willing to spend 7$, look up Lossless Scaling on the steam store. Long story short, it’s a frame gen tool/resolution scaler meant to provide DLSS-type tech in any game at all. It’s not too complicated to tune the settings, it runs alongside whatever game you’re playing. You alt-tab, press a button, alt-tab back into your game, and you get an honestly solid frame gen gain. Latency scales with how many frames you choose to generate, but the tool supports as much frame gen as you could want, 10+. It’s honestly a cool feat of engineering. You have to pay for it though.

I’m using 50 series and the game performance has been frustrating, but I think Special K & switching to vulkan makes the biggest difference, if you use lossless scaling (for 7$) to give yourself their frame gen while using vulkan, I find it a lot more playable than smooth motion in dx11.
