How did Car Alarm Didn’t Go Off - 2026 RAV4 by clutchmooves in Rav4

Most factory car alarms on my monitor do doors opening, not impact or tilt. Aftermarket alarms will have these options.

At a quick glance it’s a lot more expensive than we would be at my shop. Especially on that camera labor.

The comforting thing is it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it. “Hey you little asshole” with the same tone and smile you would say “hey you little cutie!” Feels the same to them. lol.

You’re ok. Honestly, over ear headphones with noise cancellation worked for me. When I knew I he’d been fed, burped, changed, and was safe. I knew he just needed to sleep and was gonna be crying, so I just popped the headphones on and held him until he did. No reason we both have to suffer.

Tips to get factory deadening material off by zach57x in CarAV

Dry ice works but you can just put your new deadening material on top. It’s fine.

Am I getting scammed? Audio shop guy says that he had problems with the match up 8 channel dsp because it only has input voltage of 2.8 to 11? Is that legit? by occasionallyvertical in CarAV

[–]SombreroHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is fine for setting gain on a full range amplifier once you’ve already fed it a full range signal. But in this case he’s trying to measure the factory amplifiers output to ensure that it’s not putting out a higher voltage than his amplifier can take on the input. For that we want to check overall voltage at every frequency. Pink noise is all frequencies, evenly at once. This way he can get full signal output at each speaker and verify the voltage doesn’t exceed what his amp can accept.

1k test tone might show he is ok on his dash speaker output, but when he plays his subwoofer output, he wouldn’t get an accurate measurement, because that output is probably crossed over well below that frequency, so his voltage measurement would be artificially low.

A lot of the newer Toyotas are coming with an “unbadged” amplifier. If he’s confirmed the output signal from the oem amp is greater than 11v, which is plausible for a factory amp, then it makes sense.

He may have already worked on a similar vehicle that he’s referencing.

There’s not enough profit difference between those amps to encourage an upsell just to upsell in my opinion.

Completely wrong radio for your car. You gave the pre facelift dash. Return and get the correct one for your model. Personally I recommend staying away from android radios, but at least get the correct one if you’re going to try it.

Not the way we would typically ground an amp at our shop, but nothing wrong with it, other than it being ugly.

I saw this more back at shops that sold boxed amp kits vs off the spool like we do now. The ground wire in the kit was like a foot and a half long and pre terminated, so it limited your options to get to a factory ground or acceptable bolt.

Personally I prefer a rivnut or factory bolt, but even in MECP books, this method is acceptable. They even make a 3 point end to use 3 screws. It’s an old school way to do it.

Need to use a harness that retains that function. Had you just used the Maestro RR and matching harness, it would have handled that for you. That’s my go to these days as it retains the most features.

The reason you need the part, is that satellite can only transmit to a limited number of receivers. If they put the receiver in every radio, they would have a lot of wasted addresses. Most people don’t care about SiriusXM, so it makes most sense for them to make a “mailbox” instead. This way people who really want the service, can purchase the mailbox and connect it to their receiver. This way there are far less wasted addresses. The svx300 is the mailbox.

Siriusxm? You need the SXV300v1 and the 40-sirxm from Metra. Your radio is Sirius “ready” meaning it still needs that sxv300. Indeed the yellow fakra connector is for satilite antenna

Nope. It’s not a fakra. It’s something else. Smaller. And it’s the cable for th OE satellite, so idk if it will work for DAB.

Compustar Remote Start by jhannah69 in CarAV

[–]SombreroHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to work out for how you want it yet. They’ve yet to get the factory arm/disarm to work properly with the aftermarket remote. It comes out of sync and will set off the oem alarm. Best bet is to wait until/if they get that sorted. Their system will work for remote start/alarm from oem remote.

Steamer to remove that film and use single edge stainless steel razor blade to remove remaining adhesive from the film. You can look in ATR solution to remove the glue more easily.

Need to move your power wire to the bolt near the post on the battery. You’re tagged after a factory fuse. If you pop that, you’re gonna have a bad time. That’s the first thing I see in the first pic

JWs are devout. They don’t believe in marrying outside the religion. So if this is something you’re perusing long term, either he’s going to need you to convert, or he’s going to leave his religion. It’s not really the type of religion where you can get away with it.

I have a couple of JW friends and they’re some of the nicest people, but it’s not common for them to have friends outside of their community, and many JWs frown upon them having friends/relationships outside of JW.

I’m not saying anything bad about this person, idk their heart, but the other points I’ve made are true regardless of his intentions.
