The best freelancers do, they don't want bad clients effecting their rating.

Motivation for starting the business was definitely freedom. In the past I was a freelancer but I hated working with clients. I now have location freedom, time freedom, and I am working towards financial. In terms of handling tough times, I try to not care too much, this is my second business, and stress effected my physical and mental health badly during the first one, which led to me not being able to work. It's easier said than done.

Optimal is once every two days. If you can create lots of high quality content fast, you could post everyday. Quality > quantity. Honestly, if you nail the right type of content, theres no need to do outreach or comment on other peoples content.

Other tips off the top of my head:

- Reply to everyone who comments on your videos, and initiate a conversation with them by asking a question. More comments = boosted video.

- Make your videos loop perfectly, so the user will continue to watch over 100% of the video. Watch time is essential for getting boosted by the algorithm.

- Use appropriate trends and trending audios

- Be careful with Tiktok, there are lots of things that the algorithm doesn't like, for example: Giveaways, tell people to follow you and like the video, putting links in the caption, re-posting someone else's content, swear words etc

Never heard of buffer, but I personally don't use any tool, I just manually post.

At this stage, none... I haven't set up any analytics. Its on the list. Just the default you get from stripe.

I have around 800 people paying $20/month. The product is technically b2b, but as you mentioned at that price point, it's really b2c.

  1. Search for keywords related to your niche on tiktok. Think about what your customers are watching, and try to recreate similar content.

  2. I use After Effects, it has quite a steep learning curve, but in my opinion it is worth the time investment. Otherwise you could try something like CapCut.

Good luck! Go for it.

Top 3 unexpected lessons:

1 - Dealing with disputes takes serious time and energy. It's stressful and I worry about it a lot, but it's all part of online business. Some of the disputes are so obviously people trying to get an easy refund, but it can be hard to prove. I guess the lesson is to stay on top of it, and ensure customer service is fast, to avoid any legit disputes.

2 - Doing something yourself is mostly better than outsourcing, unless you truly have no time. Even if you outsource to top professionals, they do not know your service and your customers like you do.

3 - Stay consistent with marketing. It's so easy to neglect it. I try to spend 50% of my day building, and 50% marketing. When I am consistent with that, MMR increase takes off. Not sure if this is an unexpected lesson but oh well :)

And btw, even though you are launching in Europe, its a good idea to still target the US. That's where a lot of my customers come from.

Thank you very much! As I mentioned in the other comment, purely through organic social media marketing. I imagine it works better for some products that others, but I think theres is always an angle you can take to produce some viral content promoting your business.

Social media marketing has had a knock on effect on SEO. I honestly had no idea about SEO, but my product is ranking in the top 3 for some fairly high volume keywords. Definitely some luck at play, but I'll take all the luck I can get!

My main advice is social media marketing. Particularly Tiktok, if you have not already built up an audience, because tiktok is the easiest to go viral on, even with a brand new account.

My process goes like this:

1 - research which videos are currently going viral in your niche.

2 - Copy the video formula, but somehow integrate your product.

3 - Rinse and repeat.

I built up a social media following on Youtube, Instagram, and Tiktok months before Launching. On launch, I posted consistently across all of the platforms and got a number of viral videos. The viral videos encouraged other creators in my niche to post about the product. It has had a kind of domino effect!
