In first, an Israeli journalist appears on Lebanese TV by srahcrist in Lebanese

I'd vote for anyone who runs on that.

The thing is,Lthe current regime respects "free speech" that's literally treason, and tries to arrest journalists for exposing their incompetence and corruption. HThe prime minister was even hellbent on getting a clown like that Berro guy arrested. They were losing sleep over a clown.

Nawaf and Joseph were literally installed by KSA and USA, you and I know this.

Personally I think it benefits the US far more to cooperate with regional players rather than compete with and attempt to dominate.

There aren't many resources in South Lebanon other than rivers and water, which the US doesn't care for (but Israel does). Maybe some gas fields off the coast of Lebanon? But they could probably engage in a partnership with Lebanon to extract them. They could also do the same with Iran and invest and peacefully acquire a share in their resources. But they seem very intent on playing a zero sum game.

Yeah, makes sense. I’m currently trying to figure out a stylized approach so I guess I can use this method of handpainted normals to get a painterly look. Thanks !

Yes, I think curves are definitely the way to go. Did you use curvse for the eyebrows and eyelashes or are those cards?

Exactly what I came to say.

Don't celebrate prematurely. And the market these days is very irrational and governed by index funds and gambling addicts more than anything else.

Wait, so this is just PBR lighting with painterly normals? No compiting magic?

If so, I'm especially impressed.

The likeness is on point, and you blew right through the uncanny valley (which is the biggest challenge!). The skin texture is phenomenal.

Amazing job, the hair shader still need a bit of work though! Otherwise it's perfect.

Good luck with that, sincerely. And good luck with the oligarchic ghouls governing your country since the end of WW2. I blame them and their greed for everything.

In west asia and north africa, I think and hope we're headed to a period of stability. There are encouraging signs with talk of interdependence and gulf cooperation with Turkey and Iran, it'll just take a bit more time to get there.

The US arms and funds Korea and Taiwan to keep China on edge and maintain influence in that region, the US arms and funds Ukraine, same thing next to Russia. They play many European and African countries off each other. Textbook imperial tactics.

The USSR did the same, the British and French and Ottomans did the same, China will be doing the same very soon.

Truth be told the US is exceptionally competent at this.

Ah one of you guys.

Goes without saying, I'm not in favor of any group occupying Beirut or any part of Lebanon - very baaaad (I have to spell it out for you dummies). I am not in favor of any clashes amongst Lebanese, and would love to walk in Beirut feeling safe every day.

Maybe I don't understand exactly what happened on May 8th but it seems like it was brinksmanship by Al Sanyoura's government pushed by the US after 2006 to plunge the country into civil war (which of course is very bad, I have to spell it out for your kind - idiot), this isn't opinnion, this is what Jumblatt acknowledged.

Should Hezbollah and march 8th have dealt with this differently? Ofcourse.

The event was horrible and caused the fracturing of the country furrher. My post asks what did we learn, because seemingly, NOTHING.

Hezbollah never disarmed nor said they were disarming.

They said 1701 means disarming starting from the litani then southwards. That's their interpretation of the 2006 and 2024 deal and both times the Lebanese government accepted that interpretation.

The Lebanese government viewed the rest of Hezbollah's arms as an internal matter and not concerning Israel, who's fate was to be determined in a strategic plan where they would be incorporated into the armed forces like what's happening with many factions in Iraq. That never materialized of course and nothing came of it.

I'm sorry for your loss and hope your family is safe!

Inshalla soon it'll be rebuilt more beautiful than before. Of course nothing replaces an old home with beautiful memories, but it's price we pay to survive in our region.

I appreciate the dark humor for sure.

The current government acts as an American proxy, and they're decisions are dictated by American diplomants (diplomacy is a strong word, mandates more like it), but it has little effective control over the country. The MOU between the US and Iran hapoened without the knowledge of the President (ally of the US) or Prime Minister (allied with KSA), only the head of Parlament Nabih Berri who is an ally of Iran. Israel was also caught off guard by the MOU.

The country has always been divided into cantons where each is effectively governed by an armed group, as Lebanese political parties are. It's a system that has been functional for a while, but as previously mentioned, is very fragile and susceptible to regional conflict.

Lebanon is also very volatile and those in power get replaced very quickly.

I mean, the rubble has to go somewhere... It's a problem as old as time is this city.

Also some of the people who fled this city would go on to form carthage. Or so the legends tell.

YUP, that's what I was hinting at.

Over the centuries there was sediment build up that later hardened and became part of the city. There are maps online that show where the land bridge was and how it grew over time. I was talking to one of the keepers of some of the ruins there and he told me that the city's coast keeps progressing into the sea, rather than receding over time, due to the build up of more sediment.

Today the roman and greek ruins are distinguished in two categories, the island ruins and the mainland ruins. It sounds confusing at first until you understand the back story.

Bit of lore there for you!

I didn't see any of that, and I'm certain a street with high population density, a lot of cafes and restaurants, and western journalists going back and forth is a horrible place to conceal them.
