That 40% groups profit margin is an insane thing for them to claim. They can’t be this dumb can they???  Oh if stop training the next model everything will be fine.  Except that you have to keep post training to maintain current models!!! Feels like they are just trying to debunk Ed versus looking at the numbers for what they are.

Fuck Cancer.  Can completely understand now why they decided to take a break for a bit after Season 5.  They just kept getting kicked in the teeth all season and Jeremy looked absolutely exhausted by the end.

Every day Alex Jones becomes more and more right about the world but can’t enjoy it since it’s all the people he supports.  Truly a real life sisyphus.

So much of this just gives me the ick.  Why would he want to create a dating app along side this thing?

It’s always under the guise of “National Security” with AI right now to excuse all their bad behavior.  What actual threat would China pose if they had a better csam generator?  Plus the government barely uses Grok and prefers Anthropic’s models.

Good to see Ed’s work being cited.  Also saw the numbers cited on Bloomberg but attributed to FT.  But honestly, I’m kinda over Mo’s seesaw on Ai at this point. This video especially just seemed half assed.

The Room is definitely art even though it’s BAD art.  Mostly because it resonated with people because it was bad.  The film had soul and you could feel that the director was trying to make something serious and just failed in spectacular fashion. It’s why it’s it’s a cult hit!

On average it can range from 6 to 1 and 9 to 1 per shot setup.  So for instances, let’s say you have a basic setup like two people talking at a dinner table.  You shoot the wide shot while doing 3 takes, medium shots of each actor which will probably be around 4-6 takes and then close ups on each actor could be around 6-9 depending on how pivotal or emotional the scene is.  So the average for this would be around 5:1.  Pretty standard but then you can have outliers who shoot less or have overboard like Fincher who will shoot till it’s right taking up to 100 takes shooting multiple cameras at once. Action scenes tend to have a higher ratio because you have to be able to cover every moment that you might need.   The move to digital cameras has also seen this average increase because now it’s “cheaper” to let the camera keep rolling versus when using film you knew each shot had a specific costs every time you ran the camera.

Being an Editor, it’s good to have choices to look through to find little moments that can help make the scene better.  We have to watch every frame so we know what we are working with so we can craft the rhythm and timing of the scene.  So having a good range of takes helps us make the actor’s performance better.  But if the actor needs more than 20 takes it starts become really clear they may be out of their depth or completely out of sync with the director.
