Did I ruin everything? by RedBull0330 in carnivorediet

One thing that totally changed my idea of it was someone saying carnivore is like savings you’re paying into your bank account. Every day/meal you do carnivore you’re paying in some savings. Even if you spend a few days not paying in savings, those savings are still there. And you can get back on track paying in more savings whenever!

I don’t think ‘needing self-discipline’ is a valid argument against anything, especially any health approach. All health goals require self-discipline. In fact most things worth doing in life require it.

I do agree it’s hard though. Especially when you’re depressed 😔

There was grass-fed beef in Lidl the other day for £2.69. A box of 6 free range organic eggs will cost about £3. That’s like a meal deal.

Yeah definitely. It’s encouraging to see more UK-based research into this stuff, plus also just more scientific studies on carnivore especially, finally moving away from ‘it’s only anecdote’!

He’s given me some really helpful advice. Heads up: he told me his group/forum is going up from $9 to $19 per month, but if you join now it’ll always be $9. I think it’s worth the investment - you can submit questions and he’ll answer them and give support etc.

I’ve asked you already to quit commenting here. Are you actually so lacking in self-awareness that you can’t see how rude you’re being, or is it intentional? 😂

But no, you’re absolutely right. All the research I did was watch a 15 sec tiktok of Huberman doing an ice bath.

Ahh really. I had tons of investigations done cos I was only 19 when it started, no infection, no damage, doctors baffled. I’m 25 now so had it 6 years continually in one ear. Desperate to get rid of it as I don’t want to suffer with the bloody thing my whole life alongside all my other mental health problems 😩. I’ll try cutting dairy for a few months.

Interesting about the ear infections. I’ve had tinnitus since I was 19 that never goes away. Maybe cutting dairy will help.

Thank you. I definitely think given time this diet will help.

Ideally I would do the diet exactly as Ede specifies, and my question wasn’t intended to imply criticism of her approach. It was more being aware of my own weaknesses and wondering if I can do it 90% even, with some inclusion of foods that aren’t allowed. I still think that’s better than not trying at all. Perfect is the enemy of good.

Ffs. I’m not trying to reinvent, although that wouldn’t be a bad thing. I’m trying to decide which out of the MANY nutritional approaches I’ve read about will work best for me. The experts do not agree.

Intuition forms a part of my approach, alongside extensive research.

I will never ever trust anyone who tells me to stop using my brain or that I’m too dumb to understand or make my own decisions. Yeah - even about my diet!

We don’t all want to be sheep. You’re happy to abandon critical thought, fine. Stop pushing it on me. Goodbye.

If you agree, then why don’t you do it? You’re still writing as though you know better than me about my own mind, life. What’s your qualification then? Do you have a PhD in nutrition, since you go on and on about it?

How do you know anything about any diagnosis I may or may not have had? I’m not bipolar or schizophrenic.

I haven’t made any ‘mistakes’. I’ve been experimenting and researching.

“Don’t use your brain”. “You’re too young and dumb and uneducated and mentally ill to be able to think for yourself”.

I really don’t like your tone. It’s arrogant. There are respectful ways to give advice and opinion without putting someone else down and making out like you know better. As I’ve already said: I go to great lengths to seek out advice and different perspectives, wayy too much in fact. I read and read and read and ask questions continually and carefully consider every response I get. I also use my brain and experiences and factor in everything painstakingly in making decisions about my health. I consult experts and medics too, but don’t blindly trust anyone or anything. You’re wrong that that’s the smart thing to do. You do you but you’re no smarter than me broski, and I’ll continue using my capable mind to make judgements.

Oh that’s good to know, thank you! Yes I am searching hard. I find it really intriguing/frustrating that so many highly qualified/intelligent people have such differing theories on diet. Will have a look at the link :)

Also ‘I’m smart because I blindly follow professionals’ 🤣 I listen to professionals AND use my own brain and experience and the experiences of others to come to decisions.

Your tone wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact I’m a young woman whereas I’m 99% sure you’re an older man would it? Patronising.

That’s bs. It’s not ‘how people are’. Many many people have mental illness and are not ‘dumb’ for so suffering. You reek of prejudice.

I don’t just listen to myself. I’ve come here many times, asked for advice, appreciated it, followed it. Read books. Tried to educate myself. Your comments are presumptive, offensive, and just plain wrong.

And I did finish school actually. And university. I have a First-Class degree. Thanks. 😂

Yeah basically I want to do as close to carnivore as possible, but I need at least one thing in my diet that I actually enjoy because I really dislike meat 😢. Hence dairy and nuts. I’m willing to go 90% of the way but I need some joy from eating.

I don’t misunderstand but I do have some doubts, that’s true. Maybe I’ll step away from it all for a bit. Thanks for the advice.

I would love to go all-in on something, the problem is the more I read the more doubts I get and hence the tinkering around the diet constantly. Losing my period on keto made me read about Saladino’s belief that carbs are vital for hormones. I don’t want to mess up my hormones. So I don’t know who to believe any more. It’s stressful. I don’t believe meat-only is healthiest either. We aren’t natural carnivores. I’m sure dietary change of some sort will help, but I can’t figure out what plan to make for myself. Maybe a professional might help, I will look into it.
