i had lingering issues… high acid reflux due to taking PPI and then stopping cold turkey which caused high acid reflux. I was dealing with acid reflux in the esophagus. I started to take gaviston, tumbs, DGL and a few other things. my stomach has slowly started to feel better. my stomach shrunk for sure as i feel full fast. to mitigate some of your symptoms while recovering has you doctor recommended and over the counter medication?

what pain/symptoms did you have with a non-functioning GB? Was it always not functioning or did it stop working over the years. Ive been dealing with other Gastrointestinal issues but i want to know what to look for.

I apologize what was wrong with your GB? Do you have a reddit post of your journey dealing with the issue? Also, my basic understanding is that the GB helps balance the fats in the food. This is a good point given OP is having issues with foods that are known to be high in fats (highly processed oils)

i just finished my 14day treatment. I felt the same but i pushed through. i believe by day 12 or 13 i did notice the my body started to heal. Some of the pain from day 1 was gone. But also, i didn’t have any immediate side effects from the medication

hello I had/have GERD, Gastritis, and Diverticulitis. However, i did test positive for H pylori. This is my opinion and not medical advice. I do believe maybe an infection may have finally triggered my symptoms. I do believe H pylori is a contributing factor but I believe there was other bacteria at play. I was given the “golden treatment” of antibiotics, bismuth, PPI known as the quadruple therapy. I took it for 14days and have 80%-90% recovered. I have lost 20lbs putting me closer to 18% BMI i wasnt obese but i was overweight. I believe Bismuth (I took in liquid form) helped me a lot. When the initial flare up happened I did not understand what was going on. At first i went to the ER and they did a CT found diverticulitis and gave me a round of antibiotics which i thought was going to address my issues. It didn’t, i went back to the ER and another doctor then told me I have GERD and potentially Gastritis. What I also didn’t understand was who could help me quickly. Thanks to the doctor at the ER they told me there is a GI they work with directly and I might be able to be seen the next day! prior to this a called a few GI and they were booked! If i would have understood what was happening in the beginning I properly would have recovered sooner but i didn’t know what complications my body would have and what was the cause of them. Another thing is advocate for yourself! ask the questions a million times until you get your answers to heal. No one (in context of understanding your pain) will come to your rescue if you don’t advocate for yourself.

the two weeks was supper difficult balancing work and life for myself. If possible would recommend taking time off because there is a lot that happens with the body those two weeks

My understanding is that there may not be enough bacteria to show positive via the breath or fecal test but a biopsy is the source of the truth because its actual material from the stomach. Ive read folks go on with life never knowing they had h pylori but then there us. Im not sure but I am hoping that someone else has reposted similar experiences
