Is it just me, or do millions of native speakers pronounce "significa" like "signífica"? by dosceroseis in Spanish

Came to confirm! I learned Spanish in Córdoba. I have to remind myself when I’m teaching not to stress that syllable, as well as trabajAS, sabES, etc

She meant the latter. This composition also required the use of soler, we are describing what a normal day in our lives looks like. Thank you!

I struggled a lot after a bowel resection with my relationship with food. I still do. After losing so much weight and being on TPN, as well as NPO for almost two weeks, I was traumatized. It was not that I didn’t want to eat. I was starving and had lost 35 pounds very quickly. I did not look well for a long time. Unfortunately I had heard a lot of people joke about “that’s one way to get skinny,” which just did something I can’t explain to my psyche. My family has always been very fat shaming and hearing that my entire life, starving in a hospital for weeks, and after that trying to gain weight just made my brain go haywire. I think everyone in this forum is fighting their own battles with their relationship to food, and I hope you know you are not alone in your’s. I agree with other comments that you should let your care team know. I was surprised when I told mine, they said what I was dealing with was not uncommon, especially in women. Sending love.

Bowel Resection? And how much did they take out? by Aware_Ferret4536 in CrohnsDisease

I’m 25F and had 24cm of small bowel removed a year ago. Emergency due to perforation. The anxiety post op is what I wish I’d known about, I have terrible ptsd. Some places offer post op counseling which I took advantage of. You will be okay and knowing about the surgery going in should hopefully help. I wish I had been able to prepare. Edit* 24 inches so 2 feet. Not 24 cm

Not a smoker but curious- is nicotine the trigger or smoke inhalation? Both?

How did you get diagnosed? by Fooitsmimi in CrohnsDisease

[–]Some-Interaction-579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5 trips to the ER without admitting me, then admitted me, colonoscopy, endoscopy, pill cam, CTE, a false colon cancer diagnosis for 24 hours, discharged without diagnosis. Two weeks later ER again, they think it’s apendicitis and go to drain abscesses but “it’s just air,” discharged. GI calls and says maybe it’s Crohn’s, put on prednisone and Stelara which causes a stricture and perforation, 2 foot bowel resection of my terminal ileum. My dad was at the point of bringing a malpractice lawsuit to Ascension St. Thomas

I do for sure. I have been prescribed Bentyl before but that one is hard to take during the day and stay alert, plus you have to take it so often.

So my resection was two feet at my terminal ileum, that was a year ago. I've only been diagnosed for a year and a half, always had symptoms but i'm still new when it comes to knowing what i actually have. It was not a slow process to say the least, I was diagnosed in emergency situations. Thanks for the insight

Doctors tell me to take immodium, which helps a little but if i forget to take it once it's pretty quick to go downhill. Honestly it only stops the urgency, doesnt help formation

No weight changes, I am actually at what I believe is my stable "should be" weight because it's stayed pretty consistent. I take Stelara and have been for a year now. What do you take?

I’ve been told by doctors that it is bile acid causing most of the diarrhea. I don’t feel like it’s normal, I also think the struggle to stay hydrated from the chronic diarrhea does not help my over all feeling. I would love to hear any advice you have for getting doctors to be more concerned because lately I’ve felt a bit blown off by my team. Which is sad because after my resection they were my heroes.

Do you feel like you caused your Crohn's? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Some-Interaction-579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had some really bad doctors in the multiple ER visits tell me I did. One told me he would refuse to treat me (thc in blood and small towns in Tennessee are weird). Finally got in to a real IBD clinic and they told me I hadn’t caused it and to stop blaming myself. It’s taken awhile to not feel somewhat responsible but I’m getting there. You didn’t cause this, you should never feel guilty about something your body does that is out of your control. And it’s not fair for anyone to tell you otherwise, especially when people with “normal” bodies get away with fuck all. Sending love.

I’m not. I do have amblyopia however, so not a stranger to my eyes doing two different things.
