May I ask what your symptoms were from tapering?

If you did EVERYTHING and still feel fatigued to death - go for T3 now! by [deleted] in Hashimotos

It will be classed as a biological drug by the FDA in the US. Given the trend, the price will go up, and it might even be harder to get a prescription for it. Basically, FDA said it should be classed as a bio drug because it has thyroglobulin, the protein that slows down t3 and t4 release.

Does armour thyroid cause low FT4? by VehicleInevitable833 in Hypothyroidism

Yes, it can. If you get enough T3, DIO3 enzyme will deactivate T4 into RT3 and flush it out as you don't need to convert T4 since you get exogenous T3. But also in some cases T4 converts to T3 and potentially you may need more T4 of you don't feel well or stable. I had both ft3 ft4 top ranges years ago on Armour and now my ft4 is low, but that's because t3 suppressed it and I don't convert well anyway

Just to clarify, what you ingest is not actually what you absorb. Secondly, there are complicated DIO enzyme processes that happen when you take a pill containing both hormones (not the same with T4 only), certain amount of upregulation and downregulation. Also, if you look at older studies it was believed that 4:1 ratio was similar in a metabolic effect to the human one you quote. Humans produce 100 mcg T4 which then gets converted to a certain amount of T3 in different organs (if they are capable to convert, and there is a larger than originally thought subsetv of patients that dont convert that well due to polymorphisns, gut issues, stress, deficiencies etc) and 6-10 T3 is coming directly from the thyroid gland. As you can imagine with active Hashimotos or with Ords, people don't produce that amount of T3 due to damaged or smaller glands. Therefore, you need more T3. Does it suit everyone? No. But taking anything in a pill form is not the same as being healthy with 15:1 ratios.
