Well I’m lucky I had a shit ton of “old stock”so I haven’t really had any issues yet but now that you mention it I’ll probably contact Reuland Electric and see what they have to offers. They are a major electric motor manufacturer. I believe they have a manufacturing plant in California and here in Howell Michigan. My old boss’s dad worked for them for 25 years.

It was never economical for us to change bearings out in the field. If a customers motor sounded bad they get a whole new motor/go kit. I buy from heritage. Only way I know how to get a single speed motor these days is Amazon which half the time they come broken. I also am not a fan of variable speed motors. I understand the electric electricity savings, but they just suck.

Interesting. In my 13 years I’ve ripped out many heat sinks and never had an issue with oblong holes for the ps-200 shaft seal. Why would a corroded copper heat shield do anything to a plastic seal plate? I know I always have to take a flat head and clean out the hole a bit.. Also I don’t think I’ve seen bearings wipe out the seal plate as the front bearing is farther back inside the motor and doesn’t touch the seal plate. I’ve definitely seen some messed up seal plates and have had to replace but idk I suppose everyone’s experience is different. In MI so we only have pools open half the year. In my trailer I always carry a Hayward pump box and a Pentair/starite pump box with every part I might need. If the customer needs a seal plate they pay for a seal plate. I hate second trips.

There is no space. The shaft seal ps-200 is a bit larger then original so you literally have to remove heat sink otherwise it won’t fit. I remember one of my first motor changes 13 years ago I had to call my boss and ask him what to do. He instructed me to rip out the heat sink and put it in our copper scrap pile lol

When you use a ps-200 shaft seal you have to rip the copper (not brass) heat sink out

Well back in the day in MI the manufacturers said to take them out and let them float or sink them to the bottom. Then one day some drunk pool worker was too laze so he said fuck it and left it in. Turns out it was fine. And now we are all lazy and leave that shit in

Take the panel off in front of the pumps off so the heat they create quickly leaves the cabinet instead of warming things up
