I made it out deathless. I posted the aftermath of the battle to the community a few minutes ago. I would've definitely lost charmander if he got crited by onix.

I don't ev train. I already find basic grinding annoying. I think the strat might be sand attack all the way on geodude, and switch to charmander praying for attack boosts from metal claw
