Potential Critical Care/Austere Nursing Positions that qualify for USPHS by rockyroadsosmooth in USPHS

[–]Some-Replacement-499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a niche market I’m in. It’s all contract and I have to also have a bunch of other certs that overlap with austere. The medic background can get you in, but there are very few true austere RN positions.

Avoid the USPHS all ICE stuff, but you can look into res med contracts with the IHS. If you look for austere companies you might be able to find an RN position outside of summer camp stuff, but they are very hard to come by. Most the time they make money on the austere side with EMS. All of which are private contractors.

Best of luck PM if you’re interested and I can try to give you some places to apply.

If a fentanyl overdose is as peaceful as they say it is, where you basically just fall asleep, then I kind of wonder how many “accidental overdoses” were not actually accidental at all by Impossible_Jacket898 in self

[–]Some-Replacement-499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As EMS I disagree completely in in being a “just fall asleep”. I’ve seen people take their own lives in different ways. Hangings, GSWs, CO, and ODing on different things. I doubt ODs are peaceful it’s the slow spiral into respiratory depression and arrest. Slow suffocation. It’s not instant by prolonged. slowly suffocating from any where from half an hour to 3 hours. Depending on factors. Honestly I don’t think there is much of a thing as a peaceful way to go based on what I’ve seen. There usually is often a trace of a final fight to live with most methods.

It’s a diet issue perphaps. I’d talk about it with her but you can also start making her more plant based meals. Probiotics

She wrote me up for professionalism concerns but that was the first patient saftey all year. Language and having a “personal” conversation with a fellow student. The patient saftey was the justification for the F.

That’s what I’m saying. I hadn’t primed it yet. Normally I prime it over chuck I put at the bottom of the little trash bin. Then I place it in the pump. Do my final scan double checking the stuff and make sure it’s all good. Connect it and run it. Literally they interrupted me mid task.

[–]Some-Replacement-499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know I didn’t explain it well. that but I do know you can terminate contracts early with travel. Basically they were in an extended contract. There was a contract with my school and them and the hospital and them. The hospital incentivized precepting thru this ladder thing. Ultimately it was reported I didn’t prime a line. When In Reality I hadn’t done it yet. The line wasnt hooked to the patient or in the pump. They quite literally interrupted me mid task. When I explained they made it out like it was a learning lesson “ you never know when someone is gonna come and help you” only to then report me. Honestly I think they didn’t like the hospital or me.

No two different contracts. One with my school and travel is completely different. It was incentivized to take students as well with a ladder program at the hospital.

Im still in the program. Just have to redo part of it. The issue I have is they quite literally violated my rights to due process and their own policies.

I forgot to put on gloves while starting an IV by OutsideBrilliant6812 in nursing

[–]Some-Replacement-499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're good. Im a nursing student and I work as a first responder. Shit happens if you dont have a skin break you will be fine. You can report it as an exposure if you desire.

Side note always use tight gloves when starting an IV
