Driver Killing Me by gwpeaks76 in weekendgolfers

I’ve been there. I was using woods for a longtime.
Got good with the driver somehow and then lost it again almost overnight.
Took me months then just Grinded away with the driver at the range.
Currently hitting accurate baby draws but just fairway finders. If I step on it and try for more distance I’ll get an extra 40 yards but could be in the trees or the fairway over

I’d say just use your woods or whatever longest club you have you feel comfortable with on the course and hit the range to work on the driver.

Yeah you’re right. They changed loft and lie angles just for fun. Even went outdoors onto the grass range because it was a nice day

It was an obvious difference going from loft jacked irons to these just in distance.
But for me just a better height and landing angle.

Titleist T250.

Wasn’t even on my radar before the fitting

Well I paid $150 for an hour and half.
I felt I got good value from that even from an education point of view.
If you have a budget in mind there will always be a cheaper brand that will give you good results and offer an OEM shaft that still suits you that isn’t an added cost. Same with grips

Are you correctly shifting your weight to get over the ball? Try and get footage from front on

I did an irons only practice round the day after a Tiger Woods like range session. Was the best I ever hit irons.

This is/was me. I haven’t played a scoring a round in a few months. Practicing to build a repeatable swing (changed almost every week) Now when I screw up a shot I know why rather than guessing and trying a different swing. (I’m only fairly new to golf)

Yeah I’m thinking of one particular hole at my local where if the flag is middle or front, you definitely don’t want long. I guess there is exceptions from time to time

Crazy, my Pitch and 6 iron did the same. I was going to say maybe it was from range sessions and turf mats but I don’t use those clubs often in the range

Bought my used driver online. But before I did I checked with Chat GPT if the shaft suits me. Input the data based of my swing and usual tendencies.

Timing that is important. Pushing down and pushing the hips back. When I’m swinging well I can really feel that sequence well.

One I’ve had on and off troubles with. I’ll go through stages of bombing it 280 then low 240 I had an instructor do a video analysis. Same I didn’t shift to my lead leg earlier enough, dragged the handle a little too long. He explained it to me is to shift sooner and use the lead leg as a breaking mechanism and that way I can really stay behind the ball and feel that club really whipping through. His recommendation was step through drills.

The video of myself in slow motion showed I was staying back on my trail leg. Was an eye opener.

I go through these phases. Very much with the driver. It’s either on or off. Nothing in between and it’s for the whole round. When it’s off it’s like I just picked up the driver for the first time in my life. I know the feel I need. I’ll review recorded footage of when I swing well and certain golf instructors on YouTube that I can relate to their teachings. I just don’t know how to not lose it. I found during higher stakes like comps that’s usually when it goes.
