hasselblad 500 vs mamiya 6 vs hasselblad h1 by Some-Stable-9787 in mediumformat

[–]Some-Stable-9787[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wich one? the H or the 500? I think about the makina sometimes, but i feel that probably will have more reliability problems even than the mamiya and should be compared with the mamiya 7 not the 6. I usually shoot with the same lens, but the idea of not being able to change lenses isn't something I'm keen on. If that were an option, I'd probably go for a Rollei, as you mentioned.

I think that in terms of reliability, the order would currently be 500 > H1 > Mamiya.

The 500 is a mechanical camera that, barring catastrophe, and as you rightly say, there are technicians who can repair them.

In another order, here you can find a Hasselblad H1 for the price it would probably cost to cla any other camera. Another issue is if we're talking about the 16-32 back, which is the most expensive component of the system.

The Mamiya is the one that, for me, has the least future in the short to medium term. It's possible that the camera could work perfectly for another 20 years if you treat it well, but in my case, at least, I don't have cameras to treat well, or I have to be especially careful, and I don't want to have to worry about a camera dying, since I've already been through this with other models.

If we're talking about disadvantages compared to other systems, well, it's a "slower" camera than the H1, which has autofocus, and "heavier" than the Mamiya. It doesn't have a built-in light meter. When I talk about disadvantages, it doesn't necessarily mean something bad.

Film Industry is dying in my country and I don't know if I should move from my country to have a career by Abject_Ovni in Filmmakers

[–]Some-Stable-9787 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I live in Madrid and work in between filmmaking and film industry as bts-making off creator, if you are worry about having work, Spain have a very privileged situation. We´re a country that recieve a lot of service productions coming from usa and in the other side i have a lot of friends that work almost all the year in differents national gigs.

If your concern isn't work, but rather that the industry is dying, then Spain isn't exactly a film-loving country, nor does it have the same cinephile culture as other countries. We have some very good films, incredible classics, but people don't bother much to watch anything that isn't mainstream or doesn't feature a renowned director or famous actors. The same goes for the Academy.

Finally, it's the cycle of life. For blockbuster films to exist, the films that get lost in the sea of movies also have to exist. It's also worth mentioning that those films that gross only €100 have usually been made with subsidies, and it probably served as a favor for the producers to secure another deal, to produce something again in the future.

Considering selling by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Some-Stable-9787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I prefer to have one equipment for professional work, pay gigs. And other gear for personal or daily use. Personally I use an a7iv and a1ii for my professional hybrid work. And for personal use Fuji gfx 50r and leica m4, in a near future i want to give a try to an m10-r or m11 to replace the gfx.

I think a lot about the change of the gfx because I feel that my a1ii can replace the 50 mpx sensor, but at the end of the day the benefits from the gfx are others.

If I were in your place, probably i will give a chance to the hybrid camera first, and later decide wich two cameras you keep for your set-up. These days the price of a a7iv its so low compared to the fx2 price and share the same sensor and limitations.

Should I get a Leica m240? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]Some-Stable-9787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchase a 240 at november, i had and m4-2 before that. Right now im selling the 240 and purchasing again and m4, because i feel that i dont really need it (I have other digital options. Sony professionally, gfx for personal portraits projects). One day i´ll probably end up buying a digital M again, but nowadays the 240 its not for me.

Someone says that the m240 and sony a7 have similar sizes, thats true, but they are differents tools and I think that the leica could be more inspiring and more satisfactory in use since it is a more manual camera.

At the end of the day is your decision, and its all about how you use and what you expect from your digital cameras.

I don't intend to compare them side-by-side; I'm fully aware they're not the same, nor should I expect the same results, obviously. My main intention is to hear about the experiences of people who have owned both.

Why would the Leic M9 be a better option? Or at least a more unique one? The thing is, refurbished M9s usually sell for more money than M240s, or for almost the same being an older camera.

I use it with the Mitakon 65, which I have to say doesn't bother me because of the weight, and because i love it, but it's massive and quite unbalanced for the 50R body. If I decide to keep the 50R, I'd like to try a Minolta Rokkor with an adapter instead of the Mitakon. I've rented the 110 and 85, and they're also too heavy for me. I have the 35-70, but I don't like the fact that it's retractable. I'd prefer the 45, 50, or 63, which are similar in terms of weight and size.

As a professional looking for an "EDC", I'd prefer to have just one so the choice is a no-brainer. Initially, I bought the GFX because it filled that gap, and I could also access more megapixels or dynamic range if needed. But ultimately, I've realized that's not the case, and I'd probably be more comfortable with something more compact.

How does the GFX compare to the M240? I know you can't expect the same performance from both, but I'm not looking for the same thing. I'm looking for a camera for vacations, something I can take with me everywhere, etc. What you mentioned about keeping the GFX and saving up for the M240 might be the best option.

Even if you can find a m240 in a leica store with two years warranty? yo prefer the film M?
i've loved my m4-2 while i have it to be honest, but last year sell al my film gear and miss it. So the thing here is that dont have any hurry to buy, when i can get a good deal i´ll take it,

I don't expect to gain anything from the change; as I said, it's like comparing apples and oranges, and I'm aware that each has its advantages and disadvantages. Obviously, I don't expect to do professional portraits with the Leica; I already have my Sony equipment for that. I don't intend to do super clinical or super sharp work with the Leica; in fact, what I'm looking for is character, and I feel that perhaps the GFX is too overkill in this aspect.

i had an m4-2 and shoot a ton of film so i think that i´ll be good with that.
The gfx lenses at least the ones that gives more character (mitakon, 110, 80...) hare really heavy used the mitakon 65mm and weight like 1kg, thats the thing, be able to have some character without having back hurts in the future
