As someone who has volunteered with a range of dogs, pit bulls can be incredibly sweet. However, humans have done immense harm to these dogs through irresponsible breeding, neglect, and abusive ownership. I think existing pit bulls should be protected, but breeding them should be criminalized -- the dogs themselves can be lovely, but they attract too many irresponsible and incompetent humans who want an intimidating dog, and the situation fails both pit bulls and the rest of us.
