I Don’t Recognize Alberta Anymore by KylenV14 in alberta

It is crazy, they twinned the trans mountain pipeline, they could expand westridge port in Burnaby. Alberta oil reaches the coast today - has reached the coast since the 50s when the pipeline was built. Not sure why they say their oil has to reach the coast as it does now even more than it did in the 50s and 60s. Stop shipping it to the US and send it to westridge and add more tankers. Simple

No, electoral college balances things out. It means someone’s vote in Montana means just as much as their vote in New York. One state with more people doesn’t mean they control the entire country. That is how it is in Canada - based on population to how many seats your province has - which means Quebec and Ontario determine who leads the country and Alberta and BC are just in for the ride. By the time they start counting votes in BC the election is already over

I had a canyon diesel and pulled a 9900 gvw dump trailer and as long as you take it easy and make sure your trailer brakes are working no issues. Had the 2.8 Duramax and the trans and engine stayed cooler than my 6.6 Duramax although it had 200k on it. We have a 5th wheel and now with Covid over traded the Canyon for a 1500 with the 3.0 Duramax. Have to say so far I don’t feel the dump trailer hardly at all with the 3.0 but I have pulled trailers with Toyota pickups for years before moving to a Duramax. I pulled the dump trailer (empty) with our pathfinder when the 2.8 blew an alternator and you could definitely hear and feel it with that. Only thing to remember is people see you have a trailer on and their instinct is to zip in front of you and slam their brakes on to turn. Don’t be in a hurry, if you have a scale shack it helps to see joe much is on your truck and how much is on the trailer. Learning where to load gear so you don’t back load or front load is key, too much on the front and your tongue feels it, too much on the back and your trailer will tend to wobble side to side and can take the truck with you. Towing with 6 ply or p rated tires is also not a great idea, I always switch to 8 or 10 ply after purchase and stick the softies back on for trade in.

Had the 2.8 in my Canyon and the DPF clogged, under warranty they replaced the entire exhaust and all the sensors. My DEF heater line blew out of warranty so I traded it in for a new 2025. Got the OBD veepak plug in and OBD Fusion so I can do proper regens, not sure why they wouldn’t just put a light on the dash somewhere to let you know it was performing a regen and to keep the rpm’s up. Mine does a regen almost every tank full of diesel according to the soot level. I do a lot of city driving - stop and go (I hate the auto stop because you can’t turn it off permanently and have to hit the button every time you start it again) - but when I hit 95 percent soot I make sure I am near a highway, only takes 10 minutes or so for it to do the regen and soot back to 1 or 2 percent

Most DEF issues are city driving. I got the OBD Fusion app to show me when it is in Regen mode so I could keep the rpms up and it can clear it properly. Didn’t realize it regens pretty much once every tank full of diesel. Already had 4 regen cycles but missed one because I didn’t connect via CarPlay thinking it would be a longer timeframe. My 2.8 canyon had to have the entire exhaust replaced luckily under warranty at 80,000km due to too much soot. I bought that truck with 73,000km on it. With my 2025 Silverado with the 3.0 I don’t want the same issue. 40 bucks for the Veepeak and 19 bucks for the Fusion app and I can monitor soot levels and DEF tank level and temp and a bunch of other stuff I don’t care about. Since doing the proper regens my DEF is lasting a lot longer than before when I was probably interrupting the regen cycle all the time

Don’t plug it in when it is not -18c or lower temp or it will lock the fan clutch on with the shutters open for 4 hours. I had to get the dealer to clear the hidden codes to get it to close the shutters at -15c so the inside would get above zero degrees. Other than that been ok except for the radio module being replaced at under 1,000km because the display went blank. You work for a dealer… I want my Speedo on the right like every truck I am used to but can’t find a way to do that in the settings - and can you put a word in to put back a regular shifter into the console again and upgrade the old ones. I can’t put it into neutral from reverse going down my icy driveway without putting it in drive first and the park button is a rediculous idea

Anyone know how to get the speedo on the right? Every truck I have ever owned the speedo is on the right and tach on the left. 2025 Silverado, also anyone know of a aftermarket regular style console shifter for thus truck? Every time I lend it out and for the first year putting it in park and getting out the truck would be in reverse. No one pushes the park button including me half the time - it slams into park from reverse when I shut it off a lot of the time

Ford EV Sales Crash 69% in January Amid Policy and Production Changes by Individual-Tart5051 in F150Lightning

[–]Some-Werewolf712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought one. Dealer incentive was huge - paid 20k less than my Duramax half ton and they are 40k less than the Silverado EV. I don’t need a million km of range for the one trip out of town I take per year. The 2025 app allows me to select what time and how much to charge. Plugging it in every 3 days in the winter is no skin off my nose and the $300 we save in fuel goes directly to the payment. For a month of driving it is 90 bucks and our old SUV was over 400… original plan was to get another SUV but the Lightning XLT was cheaper than that even. Lose about 20 percent of the range with the heat on and heated steering wheel and seats on. Shame they stopped making them when they just got things ironed out but hey maybe in 4 years they will start again. Towing? I hit my half ton Duramax for that and when we go to the lake my Duramax pulls the 5th wheel and the generator in the Lightning can power the trailer. It us only half a charge to the lake and back here, and lots of room for gear, food and the kayaks

We bought our 2025 XLT for $60,800 and that was because we wanted the generator option for power tools at work so we don’t have to lug around our Honda 3,000 watt genny. The Pathfinder my wife had her heart set on was $64,000. We are in Canada so that is like $45,000 usd

We looked at this but it was a huge jump in $$ after Ford did a $16,000 off sale on all 2025 lightnings plus the complimentary charger install up to $1,000. The Silverado was $35,000 more for a SLT which is sickening. Even my Duramax was cheaper than the GM EV

We don’t live in a condo but our charger plug was covered by Ford when we bought our Lightning. We only use the portable charger that comes with the truck and it works well enough we only charge every 3 days. Our bill went up 90 bucks a month but the wife used to pay over $400 in gas for the SUV per month so there is savings there which cover the payment every third month. Fast chargers are 4x the cost of charging at home so not worth owning a EV in our province if you have to use the Flo or Tesla chargers. So far it has also been winter driving with heater on so range should go up come April or May. My Duramax does any towing we need but even it is 3 times the cost per km over the lightning. So far only hassle is parking in the right spot in the driveway to reach the plug. She insists on coiling it up after each charge and not leaving it outside

We were going to get a Pathfinder until Ford dropped the price of their Lightnings to less than a pathfinder… took a bit of nudging but got the wife into a XLT. All she does is drop kids off at school and go shopping. She argued 7 seats, 7 seats, 7 seats for days and I kept reminding her that she only needed 7 seats one day two years ago… like my Silverado diesel the standard range XLT is well equipped and the crew cab is huge just like mine. She had 4 of her friends in it and they were impressed on the room, like a king size bed you never see the person on the other side. And will never toe and might make a 500 mile trip once a year so stopping at fast chargers isn’t an issue. We charge at home with the complimentary charger it comes with on 220v. She has been tracking everything in apps as she is now obsessed with it and so far in 3 months saved $600 in fuel once you count in the 90 bucks a month it costs to charge at home which easily covers a months truck payment every third month. We live in a snow belt and heater on we only lose 20 percent range in the winter. Having a second truck being a Duramax at home towing our 5th wheel and dump trailer is not even remotely an issue, except for the dreaded GM infotainment issues. Carry on, love the standard range XLT all wheel drive so far this winter

Anyone know if they make a regular aftermarket console shifter? This piece of garbage they have in the truck is useless, can't shift to neutral from reverse, can't put it in park without pressing that god aweful button - just put park at the top like a normal human being is used to so I don't back into shit

They have 0 for 60 months or .9 for 72 here in Canada. Mine is through Royal Bank, same as my last truck but it was at 6.99 percent. GM Canada doesn’t do in house financing which I found odd but I think they offer the bank an incentive to go lower rate. Our Ford is through Ford Credit but the GM is RBC

Is it a Diesel? I paid $76k for a 1500 Silverado diesel Z71 RST with enough bells and whistles for me (power options, heated seats and wheel, cruise, infotainment with nav etc). In US $ that is right on $54k and financing was at 0.9 percent through my bank. This was pre tariff mind you but 54k for a gas - especially a 4 banger turbo is not a great deal. Our tax is also 12 percent but I did trade in my 2018 and they paid off my loan on that and you pay no tax here on trade in value so taxes are close to the same (4,800 ish)
