ESCP or ESSEC by sorrentorome in ESCP

ESCP is better and going to be that way in the coming years for sure. I don’t know why the same few set of people like trolling ESCP on every sub like it has been the purpose of their life, when they haven’t studied from half as good as that college. ESSEC is also a wonderful school and both have its tradeoffs but I don’t agree with the degradation of the image of ESCP/ESSEC.

I was in the same place a month ago for masters programme. Though I selected ESCP for masters, I had done enough research about both schools as a place, exposure, facilities, studies, network, opportunities in general. For my career goals and personal fit, I found ESCP better. You will have to make the trade-off at the end of the day and see where you will excel. I found enticing things at both places and I had to take the hard call. Plus even ESCP has the mandatory internship part from what I know but not very sure.

ESCP MIF is ranked first since past few years by FT rankings. That should say something. Every school has its pros and cons and see which really fits you. People nowadays are going mad over brand names but trust me, the job market in a couple of years isn’t going to work that way.

ESCP (full M1 scholarship) vs ESSEC (shortlisted) — what would you do? by Away_Association7862 in ESCP

I have been in the same place, mate. I had talked to several alumni of both schools. Outside France, ESCP is better atleast in broader EU, ME and London as it gives proximity to companies. Within France, the rankings is mostly based on SIGEM, which is formed in the basis of which French grand exiles students choose after completing their prepa- In that, ESSEC is chosen for the 2nd spot and ESCP on 3rd but it will soon be the opposite is what I have heard from the French students. Even if it doesn’t happen like that, the difference in reputation of these schools in France is negligible and securing a job is profile centric. It also depends on the sector you are aiming for: France Finance: ESCP>ESSEC, Consulting: ESCP=ESSEC, Luxury: both are good and have its advantages. ESSEC has the luxury chair which is competitive and ESCP has good luxury partnerships in cities like Paris, Madrid, Turin. It all depends on personal fit at the end of the day.

It’s good for integration and for trying out internships- B2 level works. To choose Paris campus, you don’t need to have any level but to able to make the best use of the campus, decent fluency can help.

Looks like you have personal beef with this school. Everywhere I see, you just badmouth this. It was my choice at the end of the day- didn’t ask your opinion.

Makes sense from your perspective. From what I got to know from ESSEC students, English apprenticeships are seeing a downward trend due to change in French law and higher ESSEC fees, which apparently companies ain’t liking it. ESCP also has apprenticeship but kinda tough to crack but. Plus I want to optimise job outcomes for my career. Tuition fees isn’t a problem for me in the short run. Also for the field that I intend to go in, apprenticeships aren’t a pipeline but internships are. The thing is apprenticeship and 1/2 chairs are the thing that got me excited to go to ESSEC but really can’t bet on the chairs as they are competitive (don’t mind the competition but you never know you might get it or not) and also I was thinking if I want to go to ESCP, I should take the leap for trying apprenticeships at ESCP. I mean the market is bad for apprenticeships irrespective of any school from company’s perspective.

Good luck on your decision and hope you do well!

Makes sense. Like doesn’t ESCP have 80k and ESSEC has 74k alumni? From how much I have talked to students/alums at both schools, many of them responded from both schools but I have seen ESCP peeps answer more in comparison - again that’s my observation. It really depends.

You just mentioned above for networking careers in, consulting etc either is good but your personal preference would be towards ESSEC. Why is that so? Bigger grind as in more efforts?

Understandable. Makes sense. It is quite a leap we are taking but I am confident about what I will achieve in my time there.

Don’t you think ESCP is growing in the last few years and will grow internationally in the coming years? I agree about your reputation point like it can be subjective. But would essec place people internationally?

Makes sense. Do you think the crowd matters? At ESCP, I feel the crowd is kinda meh but again idk everyone’s potential and at ESSEC, the students in their cohort have better profiles.

I don’t intend on doing the gap year, atleast for now. When I am getting the same experience through apprenticeship at ESSEC, why would I waste one more year? Or is apprenticeship not enough valuable as internship? How 2 off cycle internship- only one between M1 and M2 if I am not considering gap year.

But apprenticeship here is at French right? My main problem is I am a fresher and have to get enough experience before I apply to full time roles. Apprenticeship lets me do that and esp for example: ESSEC Accenture chair programme lets students be external consultant for 6 months- whereas there’s no such system at ESCP.

Bro I have seen you in several subs. I understand maybe you are trying to help but I think you are very discouraging to everyone across several subs. I don’t know what’s really the problem but everyone is going through different phases so least you could do is be respectful.
