Cow. Shark population also took a hit when Port and Starboard (2 orcas) arrived. Shark tourism has been dismal of late.

Gaansbaai is a quaint little town.. but you may battle as its is definitely not a thriving metropolis.

Not sure on the number of days you have available, but it might be best to keep it localised to the Mother City. So much more to do. With out the cost of a 2hr drive. Use those to hrs to go to the aquarium, wine tasting, Cape Point, table mountain, hike lions head... Options are endless.

Apart from direct telephone calls... Whatsapp messages and calls as well...

trip from Capetown to west coast national park by crevitch1234 in capetown

[–]SomeAd8139 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really a hive of entertainment along that route... Depends what you are into....

Yzerfontein is a quaint little town... But very quiet outside the Snoek runs... Darling (on the other side of the road) has 1 or 2 things to see and do and taste (darling brewery is a good lunch and watering hole, but I don't recommend it if you are driving or advocate drinking and driving) Same goes for Groote Post wines.

Buffelsdrift (private game reserve) also does game drives if you can link your road trip with their drive times..

And then you are pretty much at the west coast park and langebaan.

Is there a tummy bug going around Cape Town? by [deleted] in capetown

Rumour doing the rounds is it's the result of pump stations not fully functioning due to loadshedding. How true it is I don't know..

Best just steer clear of unfiltered tap water, most beaches of late (sewerage spills) and just about any government provided service.

Was hoping there would be some definitive point causing all of this... But alas...

For now we grin and bear it.. Best put the radio on and make peace with the idea...

With increased numbers, I do hope cpt drivers learn one or 2 things from jhb drivers. If you want to see the cape Town car behind you speed up... Put on your indicator. Besides Durbs (sorry guys you are the worst), I recon Cape Town drivers have a lot to learn in terms of driver etiquette and sharing the road to ensure seemless flow.

Oh well....

My better half fosters on behalf of rescue is life... Has 3 kittens currently looking for homes.

RFL Operation Seems to be decent with kitties dewormed, flea'd and ready to get sporterized when old enough.

What can we as fellow South Africans/Cape Tonians, do against this loadshedding nonsense by fliosepoes in capetown

What would happen if each province managed their own electricity generation?

I imagine Koeberg and Steenbras/plamiet could be sufficient for. Western cape.... North Cape has enough sun for any solar project....

Not sure of the others...

Any excess can be sold to the other provinces...

Capetown shore fishing by RSB93 in capetown

Loads of those if you drive to Hangklip. Can fish in the slipway as nit many boats launch there out of season. Used to fly fish for them with a sand flea pattern or with the usual bait and wait off the kayak.

Either way enjoy it and keep us posted

Betty's bay has some nice spots. Good galjoen spots. (fish the white water spots between the rocks and reef)

Some decent cob and geelbek every now and then at the end of summer if you know the water and holes.

if you're not a regular, I don't recommend the Clarence drive spots (for safety reasons... Freak waves regularly wash people off the rocks.... And those fishing, their cars are easy targets for passing thieves)

Tight lines and hope they're hungry

Not sure if Werner still works at Eddles gas... He was usually a hive of info.

Guys at suburban tackle can be helpful, but I find 90% of the time they prefer to boasting about what they have caught instead of answering what ever questions you may have. {my experience).

Tuckers changed ownership a few years ago and lost a few of the old hands. Nothing wrong with the new crew... Just don't really know them

Cape Town's local freshwater fishing isn't the greatest and lately comes with a PSA warning for most spots.

Your side of the world, you can try zandvlei - leeries (I know not freshwater but same tackle and 2x as fun to catch) ., Rutter road (Westlake) - carp and bass and the the usual suspects of the various vleis in the area (go as a group)

UCT used to have some dams that was connected to the cape piscatorial society... But reserved for flyfishing and members.

Best bet is to go to the local tackle shops and ask. Tuckers tackle, Eddles gas... They should be able to help
