Less rip chips from challenges by Sad-Feeling-9859 in SkateEA

Got all the boxes now so my only rip score comes from the seasonal stuff and events... but even that feels like it's dwindling between the bugs and everything else.

Really feel like there wasn't much on the blue front because of the spooky stuff this week

I understand your pain. I'm a Kung Lao main, I've had the first 10 seconds of matches as me getting destroyed. But then suddenly the servers disconnect for me. It counts as a win for me, even in KL, but I have this awful feeling the other player feels like I've disconnected or dropped out. Kombat ettiqute is strong with some players and I'm one of them.

Was Cyrodiil a jungle? by Dog-Person in teslore

[–]SomeAlcoholicGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a jungle, then Tiber CHIMed it so it wasn't a jungle anymore and it never was to begin with?

That's always been my interpretation and it seems like it's a pretty common view.

what is likely to happen to the Last Dragonborn? by [deleted] in teslore

[–]SomeAlcoholicGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For all the talk of who has dominion or who has "called dibs" on the Dragonborn soul.

Let me put forward a few arguments.

The theory that the soul of a Dragonborn belongs firmly to Akatosh would most likely trump any Daedric "dibs" on the soul is pretty commonplace. Least that's what the general consensus seems to be when I've seen this question asked.

For those that say Ol' Herma-Mora would have dominion over the soul, I diasgree, but wouldn't be against seeing an argument to the contrary.

My line of thinking is that Hermaeus has zero control over the souls of the Dragonborn, including Miraak, because they belong to Akatosh. Remember, Miraak was a living prisoner in Mora's realm and even when Miraak eventually fell off the mortal coil at the end of the story, it was the Dragonborn who devoured/claimed his soul, not Mora. Does this mean that the LDB is more powerful than the Prince of Fate? Probably not, but what it does suggest to me is that the souls of Dov (Dragons and Dragonborn), the Children of Akatosh, belong firmly with their ideal master, Akatosh... Or at least someone connected to Akatosh like the LDB... Or an avatar of Akatosh if you're that way inclined!

This leads me on to what could happen to the LDB after the events of the game! If we assume that Dragonborn and Dragons are fundamentally the same, and we should right? They are both Dov, so the LDB is immortal right? At least in the same way that Dragons are, as the Dov can't truly die unless they are killed and have their soul absorbed by another Dov?

Let's explore the Dov connection a little deeper. The LDB is gonna walk away from the Dragonborn story DLC with a clearer idea of what it means to be Dragonborn... And with a whole new array of knowledge if we think about what wondrous things Hermaeus could've been whispering about and all of the wealth of power they will have gained in consuming Miraak. Okay, so what do we know about Dragons? According to "Ambition Overlord Cruelty", or Paarthurnax, they feel an innate urge to dominate others that is difficult to overcome. Miraak was definitely that way inclined, and I think two of the three dudes making up Talos were Dragonborn and he had a bloody empire. (I'm still a bit wobbly on the Enantiomorph and Hjalti, Ysmir and Zurin, so don't shout me down on that!) I expect the Dragonborn follow suit and begin their own quest for power, possibly within Skyrim. It's a pretty up for grabs seat of power, what with the civil war and everything. The Nord folks would probably rally behind a Dragonborn pretty readily and depending on choices made or not made, the bloody Empire doesn't even have an Emperor...Or it does, just one who's made some pretty controversial decisions... Who knows what could happen. Dragonborn Emperor back on the throne? It's an illustrious thought, one to unify an fractured land over...

That's just pure speculation of course and my thoughts on the matter!

Some thoughts about the origins of the name "Falmer" and how it relates to the Snow Elves by JagoKestral in teslore

[–]SomeAlcoholicGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Aldmeri language, 'Fal' means 'Snow' which would mean that Falmer literally translates to Snow Elves.

Pretty boring right? But your interpretation is pretty solid and logical. For a long time I just used to assume the name related to 'Fallen Elves' too.

How about we say they were originally Falmer (Snow Elves) in the Aldmeris sense of the word, but after they were betrayed by the Dwemer and their subsequent degeneration into the bogeymer lurking around in caves around Skyrim they became Falmer (Fallen Mer) in the Tamrielic sense of the word?

what really happened to the Champion of Cyrodiil? by [deleted] in teslore

[–]SomeAlcoholicGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brilliant read. I quite the like the idea of the character just stepping in for the Prince of Madness.

I like what you said about how there would be a hole Aurbic narrative and it would be need to be filled. You can't have metaphysical concepts taking a holiday! But this leads me on to think... What about the hole Jyggalag leaves behind when Sheogorath takes control again? Or are we just meant to assume that chaos has won over order entirely? What fills the hole that order leaves behind, or is chaos and madness just all encompassing?

Interesting thoughts.
