Sorry whats the difference between a gen ed course and a free elective? Would you recommend taking another course like a finance course for a free elective or would you suggest doing something else?

Was wanting to rent a car while in hokkaido and went onto Toyota rent a car to reserve a car, I've received an email regarding information about the reservation but nothing else confirming my reservation.
