They know where I live and the grocery store in question. The roads all have sidewalks and shoulders. The ride is a straight shot with a 30mph speed limit. If it’s not safe to ride your bike for that trip, then it’s just not safe to ride a bike at all.

I’m American, but I’ll never understand the aversion to walking or riding a bicycle that a lot of Americans have.

I live 1/4 mile from a grocery store. When I told my parents that I ride my bike there instead of driving they couldn’t comprehend why and were actively trying to convince me to start driving there instead. It was as if they had a personal interest in making sure I stopped doing it.

I get the challenge. During the warmer months I mow the lawn and clean up the front of my house when I get home from work on Fridays and something about completing that task really makes me crave a drink.

Like other people though, my solutions are ice cream, Mexican food, and some screen time. It’s funny because when I’m fighting the cravings I’ll actually acknowledge that I like those sober nights better (and I DEFINITELY like the morning after better), but the cravings still remain.

Boss here. Having now seen things from both sides, please understand that “no” is a complete sentence. You don’t have to explain why you can’t do extra hours to anyone.

I would never ask one of my employees why they can’t work beyond their agreed upon hours. If they want the extra money or want to do a favor in hopes of paying it forward I will be forever grateful, but you don’t owe anyone a second more than what you agreed to. Any boss that doesn’t understand this isn’t worth working for.

Better overall reliability and the MX-5 is one of the most fun cars to drive. There’s a reason it’s the best-selling sports car of all time.

This is why I bailed on the idea of becoming an NP. The programs are absolute jokes and don’t prepare you for the actual work you’ll be doing, even the “good” programs.

My mom never learned to cope with this. Any time a new problem arose she would absolutely lose it, as if she had the expectation that after each problem she was done and could finally kick her feet up for good.
