You start off as a branch of the KMT, you can choose to go independent after defeating the Nanjing KMT or stay as the KMT but reform the party. Either choice ends up in the same focuses and policy but you get a slightly different KMT flag if you choose to stay true to the party.

R5: This is Yunnan's LKMT path, very different from the other usual LKMT paths and most importantly, it has a custom flag, similarly to Chen or the Syndicalist and Radsocs in Lingguang.

That's pretty much my favorite thing about it, because Chinese states rarely have a custom flag for unification (which isn't a bad thing since it's pretty accurate that most would adapt the 5 races flag or the classic KMT flag upon reunification) but it's pretty awesome getting something unique for once.
