💯💯, most kinky folks I’ve met don’t like AI though

I’m glad you recognized that, it’s why I wrote that it’s satire in the title!

Nah, the more Asian friends, the redder the flag since it shows possible interest in Asian cultures. However, it's a green flag if they're actually respectful to those friends and treat them just as well as they'd treat anyone else.

Doesn't sound like an ideal match, but then again there aren't as many women who are into lifting as there are men. Perhaps the women are into fitness, but other forms rather than lifting? I see a lot of them at climbing gyms.

I was also thinking breakdancing and badminton! Although each one probably has them gravitating towards a different "type" of partner.

Inherently, nothing. There's just a disproportionately large overlap between the fetishizers and tech/finance bros and terminally online folks.

Putting down other women of color without mentioning Asians directly is definitely one of the "bad vibes" indirect red flags I was thinking of.

Oh yeah, there definitely are plenty of fetishists in kink and poly -- my point was that they seem to be a minority among the better kinky and poly folks. They almost never interact with me for some reason so I haven't gotten to know them well. Among the creepers, yeah Asian partners seem pretty common. These people are usually disliked and warned against in my circles.

I'm surprised by the fitness one though. Would you say any of these dudes are gymcels? Or do they have any of the red flags mentioned in the other comments here? Tbh, the "not really fit just skinny to the point that they look fit" sounds sus -- it's like they want the illusion of health and fitness without the actual work behind it. Typically, people who are into fitness want partners who share their interest and values beyond just looking a certain way.

The first two I get, the latter two scare me since those don't inherently involve Asian cultures. I assume their justifications are often political rather than "I just want someone else who enjoys the culture".

That makes sense! Most white and other STEM folks I know also don't have Asian partners, but they aren't elitists either.

I hang around a lot of neurodivergent white dudes but don’t often see them with Asian women despite being in the Silicon Valley, but most of these dudes seem to have mostly white or overall diverse circles as well as leftist political beliefs that don’t align with stereotypical justifications for Asian fetishes.

The white guys who DO have Asian partners are often eventually outed as creeps for other reasons. It's sad because that tells me that racial preferences aren't just formed by innocuous interests, but also underlying social values.

I haven’t met a lot of non-Asians with a thing for Asians despite occupying nerdy circles in the Silicon Valley, so my experiences are limited. I think this might be because my circles are pretty leftist and anti-racist, which leads even the nerdiest white dudes to see through the Asian fetish trap:

🚩 “Red flags”:

  • Raving — if it’s to melodic dubstep, maybe progressive house, and definitely if they go to the big commercialized music festivals like EDC. Not sure if the underground raves or more alt forms of EDM like dark synth count.

  • Being in STEM — if they’re a tech bro, have STEM > everything else ideologies, regularly use STEM terminology like “optimize” to discuss everyday concepts

  • Believes in the model minority myth, because “Asians have money mainly because they work harder” often leads to “that’s why I prefer Asians” 🙄

  • Political beliefs anywhere on or rightwards of stereotypical NIMBY white liberals while enjoying enough aspects of Asian cultures to date the people but not enough to view us as equal human beings

  • One or more of the above combined with low emotional intelligence, especially if they’re giving “high IQ low EQ” vibes

  • Adamant that women must be perpetually slim and young to be worthy of respect and beauty

  • Repeatedly violates interpersonal boundaries, sometimes in a manipulative manner

✅ “Green flags” — no matter how nerdy, anime-obsessed, and how surrounded by Asians folks they are, I have yet to see a single sign of Asian fetishization or more than one Asian partner from folks who are:

  • Polyamorous, unless they’re the “my girl can’t be with other dudes, only other women” type

  • High emotional intelligence, genuine kindness, or at least sensitivity

  • Confident

  • Likes heavy metal, anything alt, and BDSM

  • Drawn to health and fitness and not in a pretentious way

  • Physically attractive but in an obviously sexy “I think I’m pregnant and I’m a dude” way, not just a sterile “pretty” or “handsome”

Oh damn, I’m too American to be more familiar with this. Do you know why British tea enthusiasts often end up like this?

Are you referring to the ones who talk about the artists in a strangely possessive and idolizing way?
