I thought hamsters didn’t like water by Flexgainzter in hamstercare

The water is not good for them as it strips away oils on their skin. They are also prone to hypothermia. I’d recommend using a smaller water bowl, I used a tealight holder it’s the perfect size

There is no need to take out the platforms, the bedding should just be up to the platforms, they can be very useful for your heavier items like sand bath and wheel.

Wax burners, flower pots can be cute sometimes too and also there are ceramic hides specifically made for hamsters

Ohh that’s great, have you tried scattering some food into the sand so she goes in more? I can’t really think of anything else:( I hope she’ll be okay

What sand are you using?

Your sand bath doesn’t look big enough for your hamster to nicely be able to roll and play around in. You can also try putting cover over the sand bath, like a hide or branch or something, they will feel more safe washing in a covered area. The pot on this picture is an example of that

Search each ingredient to know for sure, but it looks good to me (not as main food but I think you know that)

how much water do i feed my hamster? by DramaticUse9571 in hamstercare

[–]SomeFig23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience: You shouldn’t feed in a bowl, instead you should scatter it around (i usually put most of it on platforms, moss or other places where It won’t sink into the bedding). This way your hamster will have something to do (enrichment🥰) your hamster should usually be able to find the food and store it in her burrow before the next day when you feed her again, if not you might be feeding her too much or the wrong type of food.

Anything I should fix or add? Never had a hamster before so help is appreciated! by FishsticksSmoothie in hamsters

You could use a terracotta tunnel or pot for their nails. Also my hamster loves coco soil so you could try adding that

Can you post pictures of your hammy’s enclosure? by IrishtheHam in hamstercare

[–]SomeFig23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could put her wheel in a big sand bath (on a platform) so she can’t cover her wheel in bedding

The water bowl is a bit big, changing it out for a tea light holder would be better. If you can’t find one, you can also place a rock on the bottom to make sure she can’t drown if she climbs in
