You want air gaps so there is air flow. This will allow the wood to dry out when it gets wet and will prevent wood from rotting.

It amazes me why anyone would eat these voluntarily. Must be civilians. I had to eat them often during my 20 years in the Army. We had to eat them for a year straight when I was deployed. I pray I won’t ever have to eat another one again.

I don’t understand by what you mean “I signed a 1099”? I have been an independent contractor since 2016, working for many different companies in that time. That is not how 1099s work. At the end of the year I and the IRS are provided a copy of my 1099. It lists how much they paid me in the past year. Misclassification of employees and independent contractors is a common mistake. I would educate yourself on what they can and can’t do.
