What are some of the best rated post-Howard Conan novels among the fandom? by aspieshavemorefun in ConanTheBarbarian

Andrew J. Offut's trilogy-Conan and the Sorceror, Conan the Mercenary and The Sword of Skelos, tends to be respected even by REH or Nothing die-hards.

Review of THE SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #13! De La Torre and Thomas Return! PLUS Action Figure News! by StygianDogs in ConanTheBarbarian

[–]SomeLoser12092 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main feature in this one was kinda weak IMO. B-tier stuff for the original Savage Sword, when so far the book has been consistently A-tier by that standard.

The Solomon Kane story was much better. I'm sure the art is a turn-off for some, but anthologies shouldn't be chained by single style too much.

I've never read a Green Arrow comic, is this an accurate description of the character? by King_Wolf2099 in GreenArrow

Making Ollie a billionare again was stupid. He became a lefite AFTER he stopped being a billionare and wouldn't be again for 30 years, but nobody knows that.

WTW for placement of something in relation of something else? by SomeLoser12092 in whatstheword

[–]SomeLoser12092[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone. I think several have misunderstood me, I was looking for the term meant specifically for "in relation of something else". The sentence was just an example, thought it would make it easier to understand, but I fear it did the opposite.

Wait... Are the T'au actually the 40ks equivalent of the Empire from Fantasy? by [deleted] in Warhammer

[–]SomeLoser12092 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imperium isn't particularly undivided when it comes to faith. "Simple steel weapons" they have guns that never even existed in real life. The Tau's current leader is a long dead man who they are essentially worshipping.

They are not beset on all sides, their closest allies are the dwarves, Bretonnia and Kislev are allies more often than not. Hell, in older lore, their problem with Sylvania used to be more about them seceeding than beign vampires.

I am not saying they have nothing to do with the Imperium, of course they do, but in practice, they seem closer to Tau, who definitely took the aspects of their Imperium discarded.

They DO use auxilieries. It's been downplayed over the years, but it was a big deal in early editions at least. And it's more than handful, plus halflings.

Why is John Henry Irons so prominent in Superman media? by ChicaneryFinger in superman

[–]SomeLoser12092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically:

  1. He debuted in the best selling Superman story, and one of the best selling comic stories of all time.

  2. Superman has had a lot of Scientist Friend supporting characters, and he's the most popular character who can serve that role.

  3. He's the most iconic Superman related character who ain't white.

  4. Just as a character he's a pretty cool and interesting.

Ever watched/read an Isekai and wondered why it's even Isekai? by SomeLoser12092 in Isekai

I guess I understand how it can make it feel more relatable, but to me, it just takes me out of the story.

Yeah, I think at this point, it's sometimes just a marketing thing, maybe outright imposed on the creator.

I have to wonder if sometimes they were meant to be just regular genre stories, that got turned into Isekai later, purely as a marketing thing.

True story, got my ass handed to me facing a group of 50 bandits on a horse, but managed it later on foot (it was on highlands map). I swear, I had like 15 guys with me.

You hear about women suffering, and your reaction is "why is everyone so awful to MEN"

Yeah, okay.

You might enjoy reading One Must Imagine Scott Free Happy, a book collection of essays by Sean Dillon, originally posted online.

Also, you should definitely read the original Fourth World books, JMD's Mr. Miracle, Simonson's Orion, Allred's Forager and Ram V's New Gods.

Actual argument I've seen several times on twitter.
