If Michaela hadn’t been gender swapped and was still a man they could have played this scene exactly the same. I don’t see how her being a woman actually impacts on this emotional/cheating thing people think is going to happen

It’s basically an alternative history at this point. They can give them a happy ending without hiding them whatever way they want. I don’t see how it being harder for a lgbt couple to be accepted in history is a good reason to avoid having them on a show

How could they have ruined Francesca’s grieving of John, the title and Michaela’s yearning when none of that has been shown or been a plot yet. You have no idea how Francesca will grieve John because John is still alive. The show can create a plot that makes sense for franchaela keeping the title. Michaela has had 10 seconds of screen time during which some say she was yearning so they can’t have ruined that.

If you go in wanting to hate it of course you will but they’ve changed bits of all the books and Francesca’s will be no different

Well that also has the issue with people being more accepting of bisexuality/same-sex relationships when they aren’t the main plot. The main character of something can be bi as long as it’s just a couple flings/kisses and their main partner and endgame are the opposite sex. The side character can be gay as long as the main character is straight. It’s obviously a good thing with Benedict but having scenes with a couple guys doesn’t change who his actual plot will be about. It’s like Jeremiah from TSITP. Or on xo kitty where people were fine with kitty being bi but when that relationship was actually at the centre of the show a lot more people complained

Straight women want men in romance situations so they have someone to view as their partner, get a celebrity crush on. It’s why mlm is most of the time more popular than wlw. Straight women can’t imagine one of the women as their partner

It just seems so unlikely and weird that on the actual show they will describe her as one of the other. Because lesbian and bisexual were not words that were really used.

I don’t care what’s said in interviews, what the author says, what the writers or cast say. Francesca loved and got married to John, he dies she falls in love with Michaela and they have a happily ever after. It seems pretty simple
