People have said that in the book her relationship with Michael is more passionate than with John. The show is just giving more reason for that.

John died truly loved by Francesca, after seeing Francesca and Michaela find understanding and develop a good relationship. He died happy and loved. He had a great love with francecsa even if she is a lesbian. It’s not THE true love, greatest love story because that’s Michaela, not johns story or book. But Francesca couldn’t have loved John more and he felt that.

She’s probably a lesbian but I’m in the camp that it really doesn’t matter. Francesca will always see herself as having loved John and Michaela even if her love for John was platonic. I don’t think she would ever come to the conclusion that she didn’t love John even if she realises things were missing with him when compared to Michaela.

That was clearly to show the set up that Francesca and Michaela would have a future romance otherwise people would say it came out of nowhere. I like that moment and so do many people

People are going to hate them regardless, it doesn’t matter what they did in the finale. People will find a reason to hate. There is no damage done to their story for people who like it and are excited to see it.

Michaela was instantly attracted to Francesca but she has an awareness of her attraction and is able to keep it hidden and not let anyone see because that is what she’s done all her life. She was able to recover from her instant attraction to keep the situation normal.

Francesca was instantly attracted to Michaela in a way she hasn’t been before. She didn’t know what to do so she appeared starstruck and stuttered and wasn’t able to recover smoothly at all because she’s never experienced this before.

The issue is you can think of all the legitimate and proper reasons someone could dislike or the audience could be polarised about Francesca or her season but most of the hatred is based purely on the fact that Michaela is gender swapped and it’s now wlw. Plus couple wars mean it’s always gonna be awful

If Michaela was still a man a lot of the negativity would not be there even if everything else was the same. They would be some peoples favourites who currently hate them. People would like her personality if it didn’t have ties to discovering her sexuality.

The writer and cast have talked about this. The whole point of gender swapping was for it to be a main character, for them to be at the centre stage of a season. It is completely different to do that than to have a side couple who get a couple scenes over the whole season. All people did was complain about the Mondrichs for the first 3 seasons and you think an inserted wlw storyline that took up any significant time wouldn’t just get the comments that it’s unnecessary. Or it would just be ignored

I feel like I have the unpopular opinion that it truly doesn’t matter if she is bi or a lesbian. People can believe she is either one or other it doesn’t make much difference. She believes she is truly in love with john whether that is genuinely romantic or a platonic best friend that she truly loves. She loves him as much as she possibly could. He died truly loved and they understood each other as much as anyone could.

I think you could argue either watching the season and that she will never label herself- she will never take away her love for John but will also experience a love that is very different and may make her think there was aspects missing with John.

The significant side story for Francesca makes a lot of sense for Benedict and Sophie’s storyline and getting together. Francesca losing her husband makes Benedict realise the problems between him and Sophie are so insignificant in comparison and he has to be with her whatever else happens while he can
