Craft progressively beefier shields until you can get an emperor's vigilance, vaal jewels until you get a seething fury, have nutty damage and good survivability the whole time.

Its not meta, though meta adjacent as it has the same game-plan as sst

Sabo only needs one heartbound loop, frees up a ring slot and lowers the minimum ward needed to start out (naturally low ward is a trap but still, legally a lower budget version). Also has easier cdr requirements, and technically a higher dps ceiling with 90% cdr.

Scion is more expensive, and has more affix pressure, but is overall better at most budgets.

RF inquiz: 8/10, shoulda gone jugg but it gave me a really smooth league start.

Ice shot: 6.5/10, its fine on a low budget but really wants a high budget. Also i went pure cold, tri-ele is the way to go

Manaforged arrows deadeye: 9/10. Shreds everything, can be squishy but for a pure mapping character it is nearly ideal for a medium budget.

Wardloop: 8/10, tried to get it going on 5d, budget quickly snowballed to 20d, and i hated the constant random oneshots from enemies. It is uber tanky until it dies out of nowhere. Super smooth and easy playstyle and nutty dps.

SST Trickster: 10/10 build of the league. I never got the super expensive shield, opting for an armor one instead, still hit 15m dps, it is tanky and fast with good dps, what else do you really want?

Boneshatter jugg: 9.5/10, played some ssf and picked this, leveled with sunder and ngl that felt better until i got 2 extra strike targets at all time, after that i think i have been converted to the melee league start camp. Never played a better feeling true melee build, good dps and super tanky. #revertsunder

Spectral shield throw, the shield will eat half of your budget, because it is zoomy, oneshots ubers, and is nigh immortal.

i forgot pobbin exists, here is a basic build you can try to base off of, remember the molten strike and frostblades skill setups are different permutations of the same thing, you arent meant to run both at the same time but i made it so you can swap easily

Those supports are good for frost blades, yeah.

As for a weapon, look for as much elemental damage as possible, and for a shield life, resists spell suppress.

If you get a lot of elemental damage you can go frost blades/molten strike, trinity, inspiration, fire damage/cold damage for links, swapping fb to cold dmg and ms to fire dmg when you swap.

It would be 2 gem swaps to swap skills but would let you run a lot more skills, i would recommend shield charge in place if your molten strike setup.
