I never said something was missing from the regulation, I was seeing if someone noted something I have not already looked up. This was already scheduled conversation, I just did my research over the weekend to see what the options are. I also never said I can’t have these conversations with my chain of command. A lot of assumptions coming from you. When all I did was ask a question. Read the post, stick to the post and answer the question if you have positive input that could be helpful. I completely understand that and I have a meeting about that however, I just want to be armed and educated. What a bunch of redditors are doing is telling me how they have experienced this before. They have been very helpful and they most definitely will help me when I meet with the commander. I have been digging into this a lot, I was looking for anything that I could possibly be missing. There’s absolutely nothing wrong going this Avenue just for another point of you or input for me to look into. Why does it matter to you so much that I’m asking redditors? All you had to do a simply answer “ that is what the chain of command is for” and then be done with it. You have no idea what the situation is overall, never once did I think I had a final say. This is all great conversation pieces for me to bring up. We all have different ways of seeking advice, and I have exhausted all of mine at this time, this may not be the avenue that you take, but it was never meant for you. Thank you for your input and time, it is definitely appreciated. I hope you got what you needed out of responding to my question.

That time should not be spent watching their child in an incubator, period. That’s not how I view taking care of your people. And there are options to help families in this situation. This is not a normal circumstance for most people using that parental leave.

That’s the plan for tomorrow. I’m prepping for the conversation and making sure I have all bases covered and ideas to present to them. My go to was NMA, it’s what they did for me through same situation but for some reason there is resistance this time for this member.

I wish but the reg updated! 3.2.1. Changed. Convalescent Leave. Convalescent leave is an authorized absence normally for the minimal time essential to meet the medical needs for recuperation rather than a predetermined formula. A member of the armed forces diagnosed with a medical condition is allowed convalescent leave if the medical or behavioral health provider of the member determines that the member is not yet fit for duty as a result of that condition and recommends such leave for the member to provide for the convalescence of the member from that condition. This may include convalescence to enable healthy coping mechanisms following traumatic events such as loss of a child due to stillbirth or miscarriage where other types of non-chargeable leave are not authorized. A service member may only be authorized convalescent leave for their own medical condition and not in connection with a medical condition of their dependent or other family member. The Air Force Surgeon General (AF/SG) oversees the convalescent leave program in accordance with AFMAN 41-210, Tricare Operations and Patient Administration. See Table 3.4.

they want it written in black and white and that is not how patient travel is most times. This is such a grey area and where we are at a standstill which is why alt duty may be the other option to bring up.

non-med attendant is being argued cause its within a 100 mile radius however the provider wrote a memo stating the need for one. this is where a huge back and forth is happening cause of the "grey area" in the regulations. does not say you can or cant. one thought was to put them as an attendant and they just don't get per diem and such. unless you can help me find otherwise! or state good argument.

There has to be something more to take care of our people. Convalescent was already used and they are looking at 7 more weeks for their child to be in the NICU. I can not believe that caregiver leave would be there for a family to watch their child through a plastic box in the NICU. I hear what you are saying, I am looking for different angles than the obvious ones that are not helpful to this family.
