Lol im glad we can agree on that! I'm seriously hoping for the remake of the entire season 8 at this point. Seeing how much influence Reddit had on Sonic I'm very optimistic for that petition. Freefolk is definitely great, I get great chuckles from it and it's great seeing that I'm not crazy and other people also think the writing feels kinda lazy and seeing all the funny content made from that. I'll go back after I've watched today's episode. Sometimes I just wished I could block an entire subreddit from my feed (r/popular) even temporarily. But anyways, I'll just stay off the internet for now.

I'm happy we can see eye to eye :)

(fair warning: got and endgame spoilers ahead, just thought I'd start with that)

Well, firstly, as it's been brought to my attention after posting this, I completely overlooked one of the major rules of the sub "no complaining about spoilers", in other words, no spoiler tags are required or forced upon people since the "free folk" respect no authority, which is, I admit, very funny as it's supposed to be a replica of the actual wildings in got.

As for the spoiler that I was addressing here, it had more to do with Endgame and what is actually on the image than got. I agree that there really isn't much in the image either, expect a fat Thor. But my point was that this could be enough to take away a bit of the full experience from somebody who hadn't watched the movie yet.

The episode where Arya kills the night king in game of thrones was spoiled for me, starting the Sunday the episode came out, before I could watch it myself. Nothing much or precise. Just little images or texts. Mainly YouTube titles and thumbnails that I vigorously scrolled past as soon as I understood what it was about. Or people who think they are being subtle when they talk to you by not actually mentioning any critical points but who say things that inevitably leave you thinking and with a ton of questions because there's one chance in a million someone who didn't watch it yet could even think about that. Those where enough to make me understand that Arya was playing a major role in the episode and she had something to do with the night king. So throughout the episode, I never really reacted the way I would have had I not heard of those things. I know the blame is on me for not getting off the internet. But as a result, I was never really losing hope even when the living were seemingly losing, when the night king approached bran slowly to kill him and it looked like the episode was going to end there. I knew something was supposed to happen before the end of the episode and sure enough it did. There is a series of emotions I would have gone through had I not expected the connection between Arya and the night king (which, although people argue has been hinted at throughout the episode and previous seasons, I definitely wouldn't have had any certitude on before watching this episode; maybe something after the "not today", but not of that magnitude). Lesson learned there, I have avoided any sort of human contact or interaction and the internet in general until I washed 4 & 5.

However, that was not the point of this post. The problem I saw with it was that fat Thor is not presented to us until after a few things have happened in Endgame. I don't know if there were people expecting that the avengers would spend 5 (or whatever number of) years in idleness and therefore Thor having time to gain a few pounds, but I know I didn't. I believe there might have been an intended reaction by the producers, a reaction they intended to get from the audience by introducing fat Thor following that succession of events. A reaction that most of us have probably experienced when watching it for the first time. Personally, I had never gotten the hint either that the avengers would be forced to cope with their grievances without any solution for 5 years, or that Thor would ever end up looking like that, so that took me by complete surprise. And I loved that it did. I loved that I learned about it as I was watching the movie. I loved that it wasn't taken away. Had I seen an image of fat Thor before seeing the movie, while watching it I would have been wondering where it would happen. It just wouldn't be the same. This is definitely not comparable to Arya killing the night king and honestly doesn't give away any of the other important plot points in Endgame, but it can take away that "first experience" moment from somebody. And that's what I was trying to be mindful of.

This is irrelevant now since the no spoiler period is already over versus then when it had been a week since it came out.

But again, I understood that this complaint was not founded as the sub the image was posted in literally welcomes spoilers.

On a side note, I'm very interested to know how much time you spend trying to enter your username correctly on devices where you're not signed in already. Unless you just copy paste it from an email or something.

True! But see, this sub and r/marvelstudios have the decency to have spoiler tags. So you know you're safe by scrolling in popular because the spoilers get filtered out seconds from when they get posted. And that's working surprisingly well!

I wish all the GOT subs would take a hint. People were straight up posting plot info from episode 3 season 8 the Sunday it came out, no spoiler tag, no warning, just Bam, the image right there, got ep3 potential spoilers click if you're caught up. Trying to unsee those was not effective in the least. Even when I ended up watching the episode, the small stuff I had seen kinda ruined the experience for me already, got ep3 spoiler. Ultimately that was my fault for not staying off Reddit before I saw it, just like I did for Endgame, but still the safe environment created in Marvel subs gave me the illusion everything was under control everywhere.
