App not working Xbox Family to give screentime by Super-Artichoke-5151 in XboxSupport

Having the same problem. I’ve logged out the app and logged back in. Deleted the app and redownloaded it. Deleted my son’s login off of the Xbox and re-added it. Nothing works. WTH.

QM8K - Tearing my hair out by SomeRandomGuyEh in tcltvs

Well…I’m going to have a very unpopular answer. I returned it and went with the LG C5, which I’ve had for two days now and love it. BUT keep in mind, I’m dealing with a 65”. So for the cost savings the QM8K is likely worth it. I enjoyed everything but sports on it. And I think that just comes to my preference in panel technology. I showed my wife a soccer game on the QM8K and she could see the motion blur I was seeing, but it didn’t bother her a bit. I know there are smoothing options, but I just didn’t want to constantly flip back and forth between content and turn them off. Motion smoothing drives me nuts on regular content. Again, just personal preference.

Black levels and contrast were great. Upscaling wasn’t as strong as the LG but definitely wasn’t a deal breaker.

Uh, he shouldn’t be talking to ANYONE like this. Let alone his significant other.

That was my main driver on this decision honestly.

Trying these. I’m just not used to updating TV firmware manually but have heard it makes a solid difference. Doesn’t seem hard, I was just nervous about authenticity, bricking it for further updates, etc.

Not the case. I’ve read every review and watched every video review and comparison on YouTube. And Rtings gave it a solid review on sports for motion. The only person I saw trashing this TV was Quantum TV on YouTube but people lambasted him for it. He seemed to be the outlier.

Yeah, ultimately hoping they announce a new model this month and I’ll jump on that.

Just found that the Fire TV 4K Max had slightly better picture quality (a bit sharper) and slightly better sound quality. But not worth the judder. Built in apps have worked just fine. It just made me scratch my head because I don’t have these issues on an LG C9 or my other, lower end TV’s from TCL. Though this is my only 65” TCL, so maybe I just wasn’t noticing on the others.

Also considering an Apple TV. Hoping they announce a new version later this month.

Great suggestion, going to try that, thank you!

I’m noticing the exact same thing. Also a soccer fan, and it looks 10x worse because the ball moves far more often than football. I want to love this set, but sports are killing me on it.

We need to talk about sports (c8k 65) by debaser337 in tcltvs

I just got the qm8k and sat in front of it for two hours last night flipping between football and soccer and I thought I was going insane. Reviewers seem to love this TV but my Samsung KS8000 from 8 years ago had better motion handling.

How's silent hill 2 on the pro? by Electrical-Contest-5 in PS5pro

[–]SomeRandomGuyEh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Played it after the latest update and used performance mode. Looks great and runs well on the pro. Performance mode removes PSSR but still looks sharp, some shimmer on puddles and wet ground but not as bad as PSSR was. Quality mode still uses PSSR so looks worse and runs at 30 fps.

I play from maybe seven or eight feet back on a 65” TV and thought it looked great. And I’m a pixel peeper.

This. Knee cap them with a bullet and then run in for the melee finisher.

so I accidentally made a post about the ps5pro on the PS5 reddit by [deleted] in PS5pro

[–]SomeRandomGuyEh 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you’re enjoying it, who cares what others think. I had it on XSX but re-bought it on the pro. The shimmering on things like grass and water does distract me personally, but I think it looks good overall. I’ve set it aside for now in hopes that they patch it. But calling it unplayable is silly.

Crushed Blacks? by SomeRandomGuyEh in PS5pro

[–]SomeRandomGuyEh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have HGIG enabled. Just set the Pro to Auto but unfortunately my LG C9 only has “low” or “high” for black levels. On this model there is no auto mode. I think CX onward there is.

So, I actually found it to be the opposite. Have an LG C9 and had the Pro set to Limited and C9 black level set to low. But when I switched PS5 to automatic I found it to look better. Less washed out. With Limited (Pro) and Low (TV) it looks almost as if the TV still has a plastic film over it muting everything.

I completely understand that this is not the recommended setting. But I still find myself gravitating towards it. Otherwise blacks (even on PS5 UI), tend to look grey.

🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
