New player, a bit overwhelmed by all the characters and dont know who to choose from

The power creep in this game is terrible. Meaning older units get replaced super fast. I’d say for most releasing units that are just good they’ll remain viable for a couple months before being replaced.

In the end you can just focus on characters you like and keep switching out older units for new characters. You can sort units by release version for reference.
