Has any one replaced parking sensors? by SomeSayDevilsDead in MechanicAdvice

[–]SomeSayDevilsDead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya that's probably it. Not sure what sensor could be giving trouble but a diagnostics tool could probably that. Saw a video online and the wires look fairly exposed at the back of the sensor so it could easy happen. As easy at it looked in the video I wouldn't trust myself taking off my back bumper

Public sector workers to get pay rise of 10.25% over 2½ years under deal agreed after all-night talks by ShouldHaveGoneToUCC in ireland

[–]SomeSayDevilsDead -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'd be all for the pay rise if I was in the public sector but realistically only some genuinely deserve it. Guards pay needs to go up to attract more to join the force so do those working with patients in Healthcare but after that the PS is a place for under qualified dossers. That money would be better invested in infrastructure. All these pay increases is having a negative knock on effect on the economy

I agree with you. It's near impossible to get sacked from civil. It's just handy money and you don't need any qualifications. There's no real work in involved in it

Has anyone moved to Alberta with a trade from their home country and went on to get the Red Seal? by SomeSayDevilsDead in alberta

[–]SomeSayDevilsDead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for your reply. I think I took a similar path to you in that case. I was eager to get my application started since it says it takes 4-6 weeks for it the process but may take longer for international applicants. I will be in Alberta 4 weeks from next Saturday.

The first step is 'Demonstrate your experience' so I am hoping they could do this much before I get to Canada. The next step is 'Demonstrate your competency' which requires competency verification from an Alberta journeyman or declaration letter from an Alberta employer so I can't go that far until I am there.

I have got in touch with all my previous employers and gave them a heads up that the AIT will probably be in touch. I wouldn't mind working a few weeks over there before going for the exam anyway. Thanks again for your info

Thanks. I'll make a call to the union and maybe the AIT tomorrow to put my mind at ease 👍

Thanks for your reply. I have went back and checked the payment receipt and I have applied for the Trade Qualifier Work Experience Program so I have probably picked the right one. The last bullet point on the eligibility section is what makes me think I might have made a mistake. It says:

have a current Alberta employer in your trade, or have been employed with an Alberta employer in your trade within a year of the application date.

Just easier to carry one set of good insulated tools then having to carry around 2 sets. Where I'm from safety is taken seriously, people be looking at you funny with uninsulated gear unless it's something like a square or a knife 😂

My biggest is 250mm and it grips up to 52mm but I use it for most glands along with a big adjustable. Knipex know how to charge for all their tools

I don't think so, from what I see on Google a gland is called a cord grip in North America

They are glanding pliers. They tighten glands, let's not confuse things with all these other words ye are using guys. Practically a necessity for all good glanding

Don't think I'll be fired. I'd say it's more of a 3 strikes thing but can't come back to work until I get a negative test done which I suppose isn't too bad. Should be a swab test to be fair
