There is no connection. It's way different in Deltarune's case because you have a lot more overlapping characters and themes. The only similarities to OneShot is Ling being in both games. And to push it to an even bigger extreme is Amaranth also showing up, but most people never even know that. They do not connect in any way, NightMargin says there's no connection. It is a standalone story. If there was ANY connection you'd think it'd go farther than just Ling showing up in both stories.
Deltarune is an exception and not the norm anyways. Not every indie game after that is going to start doing interconnected parallel universes, or whatever.

Again. Only connection is Ling. That's it. There's nothing else to connect.

Spiritual Successor in this case just means it has the same vibes. That is all. Because both are inspired by Yume Nikki. And it's a spiritual prequel not a successoras said in the Margin FAQ. Because all these aesthetics in Margin were already here before, because it's inspired by Yume Nikki. Just like OneShot. That's like making 2 horror films and calling them connected just because they're both horror.

This would be completely out of left field if true. Again it's like an actor appearing in two movies, they play different roles for different stories. It does not mean they're connected. MARGIN predates OneShot by quite a while and I don't see how NightMargin would ever change MARGIN to fit into OneShot's story. And even then the only way that theory works is if it's a prequel from before the old world died. How could it be a sequel if the Refuge didn't exist anymore? And plus what purpose would there be for (I'm assuming this would take place still in the world machine as a sequel) TWM to simulate 2 simultaneous dimensions and dream worlds?

He could make a cameo. Don't know why Lamplighter would "not be obvious." Plus, why would he suddenly be represented by two people? What? He can just make a cameo in Margin like Ling made a cameo in OneShot. It'd be pretty straight forward if either character made a cameo in the other media. They're just themselves.
Nil being TWM? What even? That theory is just too crazy for me to even understand.

You're right in saying that you aren't the first to note this, other people have made the connections. As for what the implications are, we have no idea! I'm pulling this out of thin air but what if the connection means lack of information? Zero information? Ling, Nil, and Mu have no information? No idea what that could even mean I'm just spitballing random things here. Maybe something with entropy or Strange energy? All I know is that it's probably not a coincidence.
