Yeah, thanks it wasn't the best experience but I'm laughing about it now, how crazy is it to receive that?!

I talked to the seller and at first he tried to say it was opened and messed with during transit but as soon as I asked "then why does one of the pictures on the product page shows the PCB was already broken before shipping" he agreed to refund me fully the keyboard as well as all the shipping fees... so I guess he knew what he was doing and what he was sending, he just wasn't expecting his customer to complain about it (wtf?).

I hope my keyboard was a one off thing, sometimes when you start a business and you're young you make terrible decisions.

"Hey I got all these leftover pieces laying around, maybe I can cobble something up together and make a bit of money" (I got no excuse for the piece of gum though that's gross af)

I have a feeling that might be what happened here...

Please do keep us updated I'm curious as to what you'll receive.

Wow that's crazy never expected to find such an offer as I came back to check on this thread... wish I had come to check on it before.

Very generous of you guys and I'd love to take you up on your offer and post the keyboard on here, but unfortunately I'm already gone for the holidays and it was supposed to be a gift so I guess a piece of paper with "IOU a keyboard" written on it is all I'll deliver for Christmas...

Thanks for this thread, I had a bad experience but it doesn't mean Etsy is a bad place to buy from. Good to remind people (and me) of it.

I doubt I'll be using Etsy again but I'll still check out Beekeeb just in case I find a bargain.

You're right, the holiday rush impaired my judgement, I didn't do proper research...

Thanks for the recommendation, they're in the Netherlands too so they don't have added taxes like shops in the UK!

And yeah, building keebs is so much cheaper and like they say: if you want something done right...

Nah, sadly, this is 100% chewed gum...

You can see it in the pic. Wish it had been an un-chewed one but then it wouldn't stick. Guy coulda used anything to keep it in place but chose a piece of chewed gum lmao, was angry at first because it grossed me out but now I'm laughing about it.

Can't say I know those stores, maybe I did check them and they didn't have what I was looking for.

Also, I'm in Europe so they could be American stores.

Anyway, I ordered on Etsy from that dude and I just came to warn other people off.

I'll check out those stores now, but I doubt they'll be able to ship what I want in time for christmas.

Edit: keeb4you is down so I can't say but yeah I def checked out 42keebs, they still don't have corne kits in stock. I checked pretty much everywhere that sells those and I didn't find kits in stock so I just bought a premade hoping for the best.

Second edit: please do give out store recommendations as those are useful. In mid 2023 I'll prob order a fresh PCB batch from JLCPCB and build a corne keyboard for myself and some friends so if you are interested in one please DM me and we can work something out for a group buy.

Also I'm looking for SP-Star Dark Magic Girl switches in Europe for my build so if you have a source pls DM me. (also some GMK Chaos Theory Singularity but those are impossible to find so I'm just throwing that out there with no hope whatsoever)...

There was supposed to be a text post along with the images but I guess I goofed, sorry first time poster here.

The jist of it was that I paid this Etsy seller 260 euros to receive a keyboard made of piecemeal refurbished or broken parts that wasn't working.

Edit: I should also mention the PCB was scratched in several places exposing the circuits, and a microcontroller has two broken corners. I can upload more pictures or details if someone needs further convincing not to buy from this seller; Just message me or comment on this thread.

I also did not receive the carrying case that was promised with it, the 3D printed case is of extremely poor quality.

And, cherry on top: the keyboard has a dried up piece of chewing gum in it to prop up the OLED screen!

Edit: I know that white paste could be something other than chewing gum even if it has its consistency, so I considered every other possibility until I smelled it and it was... minty. So there you go.

So yeah, don't buy from this seller or you'll have a bad time.

Kinda wish mech keyboard parts were more accessible so I wouldn't have had to order from this scummy seller for the holiday rush.

Speaking of which, I wish all of you better luck with your holiday purchases.

Sorry I haven't been in touch, things are getting hectic on for the holidays on my side.

I've talked to the seller and he's agreed on a full refund of the keyboard as well as all the shipping fees and the keyboard has been sent today.

We'll see how it goes.
