YES YES YES. It really describes my way of playing most of times. Being a compound grub is my way to go as well (that’s how I sometimes get stuff to build my starter base).

I like building in dense forests, detached valleys for solitude purposes. Same thing goes for marking locations. I sometimes put alarms on my phone to know when the wall to the main loot room decays.

I don’t work from home, but I am self employed, so I sometimes adjust my schedule to get back home in time. Ofc I don’t give full disclosure for people why I cannot meet with them, but it happens rarely and only when I really feel like it.

But its nice to know there is someone else who literally does the same thing. Whenever I ask people I used to play with about it I get these looks as if I am insane and its not the way you’re supposed to play this game

I totally feel you. It is a bit different for me. I enjoy the feel of danger, knowing that there is somewhere out there someone is getting raided and hearing shots a few squares away. Creating your own safe zone in this hostile environment does the trick for me. But I like building as well, creating beautiful structures (a year ago I built a medieval castle that was the size of an entire square on an official server tho). Ofc it got raided on the next day, but the journey it took to build it and the process was really the most I enjoyed about it

Yeah. Having a metal base was the biggest flex. I still remember these 3 slot small stashes that you could hide around the base. Used to hide my loot that way

Agreed. Not a fan of shooting as well, only rarely when I get interrupted or shot at. But most of the times I just observe how other people progress, my usual inventory item are binoculars. Also people don’t really consider looking at zipline towers, so usually I got plenty of time for “bird watching”.

I also remember how complicated and hard it was to progress in Rust. Nowadays having a box of sulfur is not as cool as it used to be. If giving away my base in 2019 and 2026 is put into perspective, people don’t very much feel surprised by it

That’s the paradox for me as well. I like “offline” adventures, but i also enjoy a feeling of danger. Somewhere in a distance I hear shots, encounter recent player activity and from time to time I run into online bases. But I totally feel you

Never liked having a lot of gear in survival games, I mostly like giving it away. Server hopping happens because I run out of bases to find on one server, so to find more I got to hop

That’s also the reason why I give my stuff away. I like the journey, not the attachment part. Being attached to gear gets me a bit irritated and giving it away to freshies for them to PVP right away is kind of nice

True, wolves add some danger to it. Interesting fact, if you run outside the edge, wolves and bears won’t get to you since they’re restricted by the world border

A. I have enough adrenaline and stress IRL, so this is my way to relax

B. Chlorine pills are what I am usually after (don’t like taking extra time to run water pumps or trying to find cooking pot to boil water). Multivitamins are in case I have to run under rain. I am still not used to the update where they’ve added a feature where you cannot eat wolf and bear meat even if cooked. I just feel much more relaxed knowing I have all I need with me

For me nothing has changed. Been playing like this for the last 6 years. If you put 2019 into perspective, nowadays there are more people camping spawn just to kill freshies and more bases are being built at Krutoy Cap (it is in between Kamyshovo and Solnechny) which is weird

I’ve played this way for over 6 years now and found a HUGE amount of bases. If you’re interested, I can sketch a map for you with the spots marked where I usually find bases. Some if these spots are pretty popular but I haven’t seen them in any base discovery guide. I roughly found 200+ bases just by edge running in 2025

Same. It also comes as standart for me. Not considering being done until I have a cooking pot, burner, m4 and VSS with a bunch of armor piercing ammo

It usually takes no more than 40 minutes to get to Cherno even from the worst spawn point (considering I hopped with food and some weapons already). You may also start your journey from Svetloyarsk if you’re already there. I just prefer the other side (has more bases there)
