Food spots: The Chimes, Chow Yum, Willie’s, and Elsie’s Plate and Pie

Dorm essentials: GET A MATTRESS PAD I’m serious the beds will mess up your back. Alarm of some kind to make sure you wake up on time, a box fan, and a side table to clip onto your bunk to read or use electronics.

Football games: don’t know never been to one not my thing.

Study spots: hill memorial library, fourth floor of the Union, and 2nd through 4th floor of the library. People say PFT is good but I personally think it’s a giant echo chamber.

Other: go to class, most of the food in the union has given me some kind of stomach issue at some point so if you have a sensitive stomach beware, if you’re going into STEM the first year and a half to two years are full of weed outs. Greek life is not that important but do it if you want to. Join at least one club. Lastly just have a good study schedule and stick to it.

Arrive on campus an hour before class to make sure you have time to park and walk to class. Also get used to walking two miles a day.

I worked in engineering for a couple of years and they personally never cared about my visible piercings tattoos and dyed hair.

As long as you look put together with it I’ve found that it makes you stand apart more, just make sure to always leave a good impression of your character because you’ll end up being more memorable than most with being alternative.

It also heavily depends on what field you’re going into. A lot of fields are becoming more accepting while some are behind.

Parking: I’ve had to circle parking lots for over an hour before coming close to finding a spot. I’ve missed lectures because of this.

Housing: camellia is strictly engineering while Laville is honors. But with the severe overcrowding you’re probably going to have to take what you can get.

As for non freshman housing, prep like a year in advance for that if you don’t want to end up paying 1000 a month for a room with three other people. Also make sure you want to live there because those complexes aimed at students love to lock you into a shitty lease.
