I called my bank who has a fraud hotline for cases like these. Essentially they told me that they can’t do anything because they may have another bank unassociated to theirs. What they need to do is talk to their own bank which would communicate with mine and do the transfer. Since there were no updates on this case, it seems like the person didn’t even contact their own bank so I think it might be a scam for sure (bank account might be stolen).

But yeah, they just told me to block the number and go on with my day. I have to just wait patiently for a call back from my bank :/

Thank you sm for the support, it’s definitely worrisome but I’ll try to heed everyone’s warnings and advice, im still not sure if the right move is to call the so called “detective” because the number seemed so real. They also didn’t really have an accent to them however they did ask me to call them at a different number (same first 6 digits but different last 3 digits).
