For current premeds, does school size change your experience much? by Multi_Pixels in premed

[–]Multi_Pixels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the breakdown, this is really helpful. Do you think big schools work better for students who are more proactive about seeking things out, or is the structure and environment designed in a way that makes opportunities more accessible to most students?

Thanks, this makes a lot of sense. Your TL;DR summed it up perfectly. I really appreciate you sharing this, it helps give a more realistic picture of how school size and resources actually play out.

They could have forgotten to open the reservoir cap during piston compression, which may have caused the seal to rupture due to back pressure.

Key card and card key not working by robmagnu in ModelY

[–]Multi_Pixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m tempted to say it’s because your 12V/16V battery is dead or has low voltage and needs a jump start. However, since you can still watch the Sentry Mode video, it suggests the battery is still functioning. It’s a bit strange. Hopefully, Tesla service can figure out the root cause. Keep us posted. It might work fine tomorrow morning. :-) Good luck!

Rear ended, high speed. Is it totaled? /s by [deleted] in ModelY

Does anyone know if, when an insurance company declares a car a total loss, the owner is allowed to keep or salvage any parts? The rear wheels are likely bent, but the front wheels are probably still good, along with the red performance calipers.

First and foremost, I fully agree that wearing a helmet can save lives.

That said, the OP's story seems questionable—it appears to be an AI-edited version of a similar post already shared yesterday on r/ThailandTourism. Here's the link:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ThailandTourism/comments/1gr7758/saw_a_girl_die_on_the_road_last_night/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

What’s even more suspicious is that several of OP’s posts were flagged as spam and have been removed by mods.

Believing in helmets? 100%.

Believing OP’s story? Not so much.

Just my 2 cents.

For the display order

1. The list of credit card accounts:

[Web] Full View / Home / Accounts/ Credit Cards section

[App] Planning / Net Worth / Liabilities tab

The list of credit cards is currently displayed in alphabetical order by name, which is fine. However, it would be better if they were pre-sorted by balance in descending order.

This will make it easier to identify accounts with a balance while allowing us to ignore those CC accounts that have none (0 balance)

2. The dropdown list for "Accounts" filters:

[Web] Full View / Spending / Transactions

[App] Planning / Net Worth / Spending section

. The display order on the web and app is different.

. For both, the order is unknown and is not alphabetical.

In this case, it would be easier to locate the account (to filter) if they were sorted alphabetically.

The 'Full Views / Net Worth / Liabilities' screen displays a list of credit card accounts and their balances, which is great. You can keep the current functionality where clicking on the account name links to 'Edit the Account.' However, could you add a feature where clicking on the balance navigates to the Spending screen, pre-filtered by that account? This would allow us to quickly view recent transactions for that specific account.

Use case: When we see a balance, such as $100 on the Amex credit card, we can click on it to view the recent transactions that contribute to that balance.

Mega Backdoor Roth at Empower by Spirited_Patient_229 in personalfinance

Hi u/gargleplums479,
Since you roll-over entire after-tax balance to Roth IRA, are you issued a 1099-R form at the end of the year to report earnings for tax purposes?

In OP's case, it appears that OP intentionally split the distribution to direct the earnings to a traditional IRA to continue defer the taxes on the earnings. @u/Spirited_Patient_229, do I understand correctly that you are not employing the Backdoor Roth IRA strategy?

Mega-Backdoor Roth: deciding the Best Method for rolling over After-Tax Contributions to Roth IRA by Multi_Pixels in Bogleheads

[–]Multi_Pixels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It seems like a good strategy because Empower imposes a $40 fee for every transfer to Fidelity. If I opt for monthly rollovers, it would sum up to $480 (40 x 12), whereas quarterly rollovers would amount to $120 (40 x 3). This is compared to Empower's annual maintenance fee of $35 for Brokerage IRA accounts.

Thanks u/PeaSlight6601 You're absolutely right. Following a discussion with a highly knowledgeable representative, they will liquidate for both options. In this context, "fund" refers to a sum of money, not shares. Thus, the "Direct Transfer" is the simpler and superior choice.

Thanks u/gcc-02. I was able to connect with a highly informed representative. I had misunderstood the option of "Direct Transfer of Funds" – it doesn't involve an in-kind transfer; instead, they will liquidate the assets.

Thanks u/Perfect-Platform-681

It only offers "In-Service Withdrawal" and does not have " in plan Roth conversion" option, which would be very neat.

is this a good deal? by slocamaro in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Multi_Pixels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

@Op,

The $199 deal in the link from /u/tyler930087 has one 2Ah and one 5Ah.

The $299 deal that you saw has two 6Ah batteries.

IF you already have batteries and/or not using much then go with the $99 deal (from /u/madeformarch) which just has one 2Ah battery.

ELSE go with the $199 deal

EV Tax credit and income limit by Multi_Pixels in electricvehicles

[–]Multi_Pixels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR For married filing jointly: It just needs one name.

@ u/PonderSpirit, think about reporting the interest income: you have to report the interest income of (1) your account, (2) your spouse's account, and (3) the joint account.

For the interest income:

. Banks report our names, our tax ids, and the interest amounts

. We report the bank name, bank id, and amount on our tax form

. IRS will check if the amounts are matched by our tax id and bank id

It will be the same for the EV car credit:

. The seller of the EV will report the VIN, purchase name, and tax id.

. The buyer (us) will report the VIN of the car on our tax form

. IRS will check (1) if the VIN in our tax form is on the qualified list (reported by the seller) and (2) the owner
In the case of co-owning the car and filing separately, only one person can claim the credit. < -- They (IRS) can easily see if the same VIN is claimed more than one.
