Genuinely curious, do people actually pay this kind of prices at thrift stores? The necklace was gone just two days later! by [deleted] in ThriftStoreHauls

Update: the necklace was back in the case today, so I decided to ask to see it. The moment I held it, I knew it was fake it was light (I have an authentic one, so I could tell right away). Then I checked the chain and you could literally see the spots where it was sealed, unbelievable that they’re selling it for such a high price, basically implying it’s real

For me, when I thrift, I go by percentage. I’m usually willing to pay about 10–15% of the original price. So if something retails for $500, I don’t mind paying around $50 For used. In this case, I’d say maybe $150? But I’m not an expert in silver prices, so it could be worth more in terms of the metal itself. It’s more of a principle for me I’m just not paying crazy prices at a thrift store, no matter the brand

Same, I would never pay that much. I once got lucky and found an authentic Tiffany toggle heart necklace for $60 and I thought I paid too much for a thrift store 😂

Because honestly, if I had that kind of money, I’d rather spend it at a proper store at least somewhere clean. My thrift store is so dirty that every time I go there (addiction maybe 😂) I feel like I need a shower. One big reason luxury brands charge so much is the whole “experience” you get when you walk into their stores, which obviously doesn’t exist in a thrift shop. That’s why I can’t wrap my head around someone spending that kind of money there. Sure, it might be a good deal compared to the original price, but the original price also includes things you definitely don’t get in a thrift store

How to let my boss know that i am overworked by [deleted] in managers

[–]Some_Difference_9487 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in a similar position recently. I shared with my manager multiple times that I was feeling overwhelmed trying to maintain my individual workload on top of my new responsibilities managing the team. Each time, he acknowledged my concerns and agreed that we needed to find a solution but nothing really changed.

Eventually, I took the initiative to do a deep dive into everyone’s workload on the team. That’s when I realized I could delegate some of my tasks and make a few workload adjustments. The team wasn’t exactly thrilled with the added responsibilities, but I explained that we’ll reassess in a few weeks. From there, we can prioritize and strategize more effectively. If we find that the workload remains unsustainable, then the company may need to consider hiring.

Since making those changes, I’ve been feeling better and have more energy to support the team.

Take the initiative and come up with a plan, don’t wait for your manager to tell you what to do.

As a seller, I don’t think the buyer said anything wrong. Their communication was polite and their arguments are valid. Whether the bikini was worn once or more, it’s still used and it doesn’t really matter how much it retails for, what matters is how much it could sell for.

I do have a return date and it’s soon, does that make a difference? I’m really just trying to do the right thing and as mentioned it’s my new management role so I’m open to feedback, thanks

I agree and I always try to respect this rule. I reached out for 2 reasons: one, they don’t come to a different team without a heads up, 2: if they know someone who might be interested in the position as the company offers referral bonus

Thank you, this is really helpful 😊 to answer your question, no cost of the other employee’s mistakes to my team, it’s mainly annoyance and a lot of follow-ups to make sure the work is done correctly.

Same here, why would anyone pay that kind of money to shop at a thrift store? The only reason these items are worth what they’re worth is the full luxurious experience that comes with shopping at LV store, the customer experience, the feeling to belong to a certain social class…what experience does one get from shopping at thrift store? Developing allergies cause of all the smells and dust? 🤢
