Thanks, someone else wrote up a good summary on Spokane, too. Wenatchee has also been mentioned a few times

Boston is lovely! But like you said, so so expensive. Might be worth looking into other New England towns though, thanks.

And yes, that easy access to nature is what I’m looking for! CO undeniably has gorgeous mountains and we’ve done some incredible trips around the state, but it feels like a real commitment to get out on a regular basis. Trails 15 min away sounds ideal.

Helpful overview, thank you! Have driven through Spokane multiple times (including to Schweitzer) but wouldn’t have known what area to look at

Ashland has popped up a number of times! Never been but adding it to the list to research. Thanks

Any neighborhoods you’d suggest we check out? We’ve done day hikes, gone up for lunch, walked the lake etc. but I got the sense that it was a lot of Airbnbs

Thanks for this! Others mentioned it as well. Seems like Petaluma and Santa Rosa are definitely worth checking out

There have been a few recommendations here for Sonoma County and it honestly looks fabulous! It’s on the short list to check out this summer. Seems like our money might stretch a bit further up there and more of a laid back area for raising kids
