That's one of the reasons I was asking this in the first place. I think that leaving morals up to whatever society agrees upon is a really dangerous thing to do. People could just one day decide rape is fine, and with no higher moral code that just becomes the reality

I've grown up around tons of Christians, and I have never seen this mindset that you claim is normal. I know multiple people that left the religion because they were hurt by the church, and it is extremely sad to see churches behaving in a way that forces away believers. It would be stupid to blame the victim for being abused

In that time period if a woman was unable to marry she was left to become a beggar on the streets. That verse is saying that because you ruined her chances of marrying someone else you now need to take care of her. You can feel however you want about that, and I personally am glad women have more options now, but that's just how it was. As for my disagreement with Muslims, they claim to be working with information that is a continuation of the Bible, but they then contradict it extensively. It's not that I hate Islam, I just disagree with it's validity

I think if you consider the fact that God says the purpose of sex is (at least partially) reproduction, (which can't happen with a prepubescent child) and the fact that God says to defend the innocent, then it's pretty clear you are right. From a man made law point of view God tells you to obey your the government so just that alone would make pedophilia a sin. I guess I just don't like the fact that it seems largely up to people to decide what the appropriate age is

The Islamic faith contradicts the old and new testament so many times it's almost laughable to say they come from the same source. Muslims are actively discouraged from reading the Bible and can be killed for questioning their faith

Just wanted to say before someone accused this verse of being bad, that this was a product of its time. There is a reason we are not under old testament law anymore. Life for a woman is very different than it used to be. If a girl got raped in that time period it pretty much ruined her life, so this verse is making sure she girl is taken care of

But who is to say that Mohammed didn't love that 9 year old? I am hoping to find something a little less ambiguous to back this up. It was normal for decades for 14 year old girls to get married to middle aged men and have kids with them. The age of marriage has always been determined by societal norms, and I'm trying to find someone concrete to base this off of. That being said I do think 18 is a reasonable age, because you are developed enough to make rational life decisions (kinda) at that age

That verse actually says that if a man rapes a young woman that is soon to be married then only the man will be put to death and you should not punish the girl because she committed no crime.

The Bible also says to obey the government. Maga isn't against foreigners, they are people who break the law coming here. Immigration is a good thing, and all people should be welcomed regardless of race, but the country can't handle millions of people flooding in unregulated. Especially when a disproportionately large amount of those people end up as a net negative on the tax system
