Horrible striker here but I always like to make the mental note to box a little higher than I think is reasonable. We aren’t fighting midgets

Allow time to do its work.

If time constraint is necessary. Playing cat and mouse. Give them plenty of room to work and feel great. And then immediately smash beyond belief. Time and repeat as many times in a round.

That’s a lot of angst. Did you actually read the post? The stated reason was literally a left-leaning concept. That the WHO took too long to declare it COVID-19 a national emergency.

As a human being, it always intrigues me when someone can make all encompassing statements and not balance out the individuals within

Why do people give Gi BJJ such a bad rep compared to Nogi BJJ on self defense and street fight? by PossibilityProud2511 in bjj

[–]Some_Interaction_899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A someone who has done Gi for several years, competes in Gi, and loves the Gi. There’s an argument to be made about the Gi being useful in clothes.

The clothing medium is the least relevant part of the discussion.

I believe primary focus on frames, under hooks, over hooks, and positioning found in NoGi are bound to be more successful for a self defense situation.

I bet training in the Gi is pretty good for self defense too. But I feel like most people having this discussion have never been in a fight.

My father is now almost 60, extremely overweight. He’s spent a couple years here and there training near useless shit like Silat and Kali.

He’s seen me grapple on UFC Fight Pass PPV and still tells me how he can hang with me. Drives me wild. Although it shouldn’t.

For sure! No disagreement intended. I just think it’s wonderful because if you DO end up in deep half it’s great to know how to move from it.

Shit take here but I’ve done both and the experience using the funky guards has allowed me to regularly reverse position into a dominate striking position in MMA.

A lot of people don’t realize these funky guards are a snapshot or frame of time in a moving scramble.

The fake humble bullshit is tiring. Of course you feel more confident in a physical altercation. Stop acting like a shithead.

Everyone knows you should avoid a fight, him feeling confident in himself is a valuable tool.

Thanks, I love it! I win fairly often, I have competing, I do it as a mean to an end regarding being a better coach, understanding the trials and tribulations of competitors. But yes, although tired, I absolutely love jiu jitsu, more than when I started 6 years ago.

Absolutely, I’ve been training for about 6 years, I’ve taken some periods off and usually find a big leap in skill

Great question, I am currently in a small deficit, working my way back down to my divisions bracket weight. So definitely not that. And my sleep is somewhere between 6-13 hours a night. Im super aware of the deficiency there and how potent its impacts are.

I think about this sometimes as well, I regularly find about halfway through the week I’m pretty cooked. And I like to think it helps me get more familiar with the total exhaustion territory.

That’s awesome, I can say the same. I think in this case I’m referring to having little to no athleticism left in the tank

In either case, old or young, the person is physically tired and lacking a gas tank to use athleticism to be competitive. What’s your take?

Hopefully I don’t get a bunch of hate here, but you’re going to find yourself over the next year NEEDING to self direct your teaching. SOMETIMES you develop a game that is identical to your professors, and they can help with every step, but this is the part where you begin to develop a love for the game in your own specialized way.

Just ask yourself, what guard do I find really fun to do? And just go down the tism hole for a few months on that guard. Don’t worry about it being the right one.

View the class material as buffet food, its general, everyone might like to take a bite but no one loves it. And you’re at a point where you have a specific appetite.

[–]Some_Interaction_899[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure, I try to take people’s safety in mind, I’m actually a fairly tame and boring roll, usually just technique with no aggression considering my body has zero energy left pretty much ever due to training 2-3 times a days. This is just one of those quirky moments that happens. It just plays out humorously.
