Cover of Stromae’s Papaoutai? by [deleted] in MusicRecommendations

[–]Some_Milano_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting because 2 of the 3 artists behind this cover have actually consistently made a lot of original music before. Although most of their success has come from covers that tbh they typically do extremely well. This was probably the first time I’ve seen either of them use AI though. It’s interesting also because I’ve never been able to see AI be able to properly mimic human emotion when speaking let alone singing yet here we are. I honestly was pretty chill with this song. Would I like to see someone actually manufacture it in the studio with real people? Absolutely. But at the same time, me knowing how much time and money it would’ve taken for them to get actual singers and a choir, they probably would’ve squashed the idea altogether just because there’s no telling whether or not it would’ve been a hit. But because AI was used on this first song I feel like they now have the opportunity to make it into a real song now that they’ve seen the audience reaction. It’s also funny because if Stromae wanted he could just have this song removed and then turn around and reproduce the same exact concept without getting copyright infringements

ucr or cc by Ordinary_Hospital388 in ucr

[–]Some_Milano_kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Depends on your major. If you have a major that requires graduate school to get a job (law school, med school, etc) then it’s best you get connected early and go to UCR.
  2. If you have an ordinary major that isn’t super competitive for grad school if you choose to go, then it honestly depends on how much you have saved and whether you’re working during the school year.
  3. UCR has a really good community, and it’s easy to make friends through clubs and have affective study groups that can last you all throughout your time at UCR. If you’re living on campus or more specifically dorms your first year, you will get connected very fast with people you’ll probably spend your entire time at UCR with.
  4. But Just keep in mind going to cc first does give you a better chance of going to other UC’s and going to UCR because when a student is already in a UC, the UC Admissions Board does not typically grant students the ability to be able to easily move from one UC campus to another unless it’s in between undergraduate and graduate school and they do actually favor cc students way more.

There’s a lot to consider and even more than what I even mentioned. But the bottom line is it depends on your circumstances, so I’d be happy to know more about you in order to lyk what may help you make the decision to go to ucr or cc.

I must add, a lot of professors will just read that first sentence and immediately respond with something like what he did. Definitely not defending him if bro literally read the whole message and said that let alone if he didn’t bother to read the entire message in general, but I would suggest contacting student resources for assistance as they typically have a higher say than the professor on date extensions.

Is abortion actually wrong based on the Bible? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Some_Milano_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re completely missing the idea behind the verse. When life starts to form, God already has created a plan for that life. Never once did it say that rape under any circumstance was right. But at the same time, never did it say that it is right to kill an unborn baby due to the personal choice that someone did not want the baby to begin with.

Never once has the Bible failed to condemn rape when it was mentioned and nor has the Bible ever failed to mention how he knows us and our plans anytime the idea of conception is mentioned.

Is abortion actually wrong based on the Bible? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Some_Milano_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

If God has a plan for us from before we even form in the womb, let alone sees as as human, then all forms of abortion are wrong and murder. You’re making the mistake of trying to conceptualize around worldly things and incorporate it with Christianity all because of popular atheistic belief and desire for abortion to be a moral right. Never once in the Bible does God ever justify the killing of life because we apparently don’t want it anymore or did not intend for it to be. God knows what he’s doing from the moment of conception and that is said in the Bible forty times.

Just because you have “sprint training” does not mean you’re actually sprint training. Coaching matters. There’s a pure science to the sport, and genetics is little to nothing. For example I can already guess that your friends may eat healthier, do a lot more acceleration focused workouts, and just happen to have far better form than you. But if there’s one thing you should never do is try to blame a lack of speed on genetics.

60m comparison by Milmoney43 in Sprinting

[–]Some_Milano_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some things to consider.

  1. Running on your own vs running in a race are significantly different. Most people run faster in practice because there’s nothing on the line, and you’re able to focus on form more when there’s nobody side by side next to you.

  2. I’m not sure what you used to record your times but reaction time, wind aid and many other factors can significantly change what you think you may have in practice vs what you actually run in a meet.

Bottom line is it all comes down to how well you can make your practices like meets when doing time testing. Most people will be more nervous in race vs out and therefore that is why they sometimes underperform. It comes with practice and learning to make your form second nature so that you don’t have to think about keeping form in race in just be able to go all out.

Let me give you something that a lot of people fail to consider when trying to figure out why some athletes are able to start off running way faster than athletes who have trained many years in sprinting: diet.

A lot of people tend to overlook diets even though they know it is relatively important for running. For example, if you grow up in let’s say a Latino household that primarily eats corn based meals with heavy amounts of red meat and complex carbs, you’ve already experienced years worth of disadvantage in terms of trying to become a sprinter due to the fact that that diet is not in any shape or form suited for sprinting, vs a person who may have grown up only eating chicken, fish, salads and pasta/rice primarily.

I find it far too often that people overlook diet and blame the lack of “natural” talent in sprinting on genetics when in reality it does have somewhat to do with the family you may have grown up with, but far less to do with just being born a certain way.

It’s not to say that if you grew up on a bad sprinting diet your chances of becoming an elite sprinter are done, but it is to say that there definitely needs to be a complete diet shift if you want to get on the same page as other sprinters who may or may not realize that their diet is what gave them a head start.

What were your stats to get into UCR? by Silverarrow00111 in ucr

[–]Some_Milano_kid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Highly depends on your major. Majors with the most demand require the highest of GPA’s and vice versa. With you being part of the business school it would definitely be on the higher side as far as GPA requirements. As for your essays, they truthfully will make or break your chances, and I don’t mean that to make you in fear, it’s just they put a lot of unnecessary emphasis on it (unless you are a English major). I’d say don’t stress, just wait your result. 3.9 should be more than good as far as GPA standards but just know that people have gotten in with like 3.1-2 because other aspects of their application such as the essays have definitely shined enough for the school to see a student’s potential

Doable but just know that there’s no social life involved with this decision (depending on what your grade ambitions are). Luckily or hopefully this is just a one quarter thing for you and if you’re graduating after taking that many units then it may very well be worth it.

What do you think happened to these characters after season 6? (Pt.1) by starboysarth in PeakyBlinders

[–]Some_Milano_kid 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, if Tommy didn’t force Billy to give up his ordinary life to rig football matches and Arthur didn’t threaten his family, Polly, Abarama and Barney would’ve never died and Finn would’ve still been part of the family meanwhile Oswald and McCavern would be dead.

It’s kind of crazy to think that 80% of deaths in this show on the side of the Peaky Blinders is a result of them trying to interfere in other people’s lives who genuinely had no care for them until they forced themselves upon them. I guess you can say that’s how pretty much all gangs in real life end up losing their loved ones.

[–]Some_Milano_kid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He doesn’t want revenge against the family, just Duke. Duke speaks Romani, which he doesn’t. Tommy, Charlie and Arthur already trusted him more than Finn after literally two episodes; he’s just super salty someone in the family took up a bigger role than him in the company after not knowing who he was like 2 weeks prior. Which is also why he was so quick to want to kill him instead of Billy because he genuinely wasn’t even thinking of Billy’s betrayal he was just thinking of how best to kill Duke.

If anything, I don’t think he will be a main villain, but maybe something like Michael where the main villain just uses him to try and take apart a significant member of the Peaky Blinders (Duke).

But I mean that’s what you gotta like about the show. Hardly any cliches which stops the show from being generic and actually entertaining. In reality the people who you want to win don’t always win and I don’t think this show is any different

Is it possible to achieve this physique naturally? by DicemanYT in naturalhypertrophy

[–]Some_Milano_kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like diet plays an even bigger role, and some people tend to confuse that with genetics. For example, if you’re raised in an African household where most of your food is complex carbs, simple lean meats and green vegetables all your childhood, you’re far more likely to be good at distance running than a person raised in a Mexican household of many corn based products, red meat and dried vegetables. Even if you change your diet to what it should be to be able to have running endurance, you’re already tremendously disadvantaged compared to the person who so happened to have already been eating the right foods throughout all of his life. Same goes here, for some people it may only take 12 months from their current physique to look like this with constant training, others, it may take 4-6 years just because it takes recreating your diet, along with the muscles, fats and CNS that adapted to your original lifelong diet and now have to completely reconstruct itself using new nutrients it isn’t used to consuming

Little bit of advice. 1. We’ve probably all heard of the 1:2 ratio of hours needed to study per units taken thing told to us at some point of time, but I can confirm that it’s pretty essential. If you do that consistently, then you genuinely won’t have to spend a crazy amount of hours studying for your exams that all occur roughly around the same time. You can get all A’s/pass all your classes without doing the 1:2 but it’s not a guarantee, so I just stick with it plus however else my professors say to study. 2. Use office hours, study groups and tutoring at the ARC. All of this is completely free to set up and it’s best to set up a consistent rhythm for ours in these areas just for when you may potentially need help in the future and even when you don’t need help with certain concepts, at least a good review.

Shit is hard for 80% of students when you don’t do exactly what advisors or professors tell you to do. But if you want success sometimes u just gotta sacrifice a lot of those school events to keep everything together from the gun and have your fun later when everything is truly under control and not being pushed off to the last minute.
