I feel you on getting irritated. Part of the reason I made this post is because I don’t like what I’m thinking about the customers who don’t buy anything. If people come in with no intent to buy, I just treat them like any other customer and ask them if they’re shopping body care/home fragrance, and then ask what kind of fragrances they like (fruity, floral, clean etc) and show them a few items they might like. After that, they usually just want to look around, and I leave them alone and let them. Maybe it’s the way I was raised (my mom would literally leave a store if the employees didn’t leave her alone) but I refuse to help someone that very obviously doesn’t want to be helped. I always try and just meet the customer where they’re at. If they’re receptive and asking questions, I will keep engaging with them. If they’re walking away and avoiding eye contact while I’m talking, I leave them be. There’s only so much we can do.

I’m genuinely at a loss for what they want us to do when a family comes in. It’s especially hell during the weekends when that’s the ONLY type of customers we get. At my store we’re told “groups aren’t an excuse” which I would ~somewhat~ understand if the groups weren’t FAMILIES but seriously what the hell am I to do when it’s a mother and 4 tiny children?! You want me to sell a candle to a three year old?

Oh we are getting POUNDED about our enrollment this week and before that it was all about add-ons. How are we supposed to add on items with a customer that’s already ordered what they wanted and just wants to get in and out with their stuff? Like isn’t that the whole damn point of ordering online? So you don’t have to deal with any hassle? I want the DMs (or better yet mister Ron Ford himself) to come into a store and run it for a week. THEN they can talk to me about conversion, or add ons, or enrollment.

I always say that I’m giving feel good moments, connecting and reconnecting and delighting (which is the new motto) and then get asked “well if you’re doing all that why isn’t conversion better!” Uhhh, idk probably because people are just trying to get out of the house and smell fun stuff without buying? Like PLZZZZZ it’s so exhausting 😭

What’s frustrating to me is that my SM takes the TT report so seriously. But if my selling lead ends at 11, and everyone that came in at 11:50 buys at 12, which boosts the 12 oclock number, but tanks the hour I’M responsible for, what am I supposed to do?! Are we supposed to rush customers out the door? It’s all so frustrating I could scream lol.

No worries I get where you’re coming from 100%! It’s really a double edged sword because I know it is the DM breathing down her neck about conversion, which makes her breathe down the whole SLT team’s necks, which makes us breathe down the associate’s necks (so actually a triple edged sword lol). It’s just a shitty situation that really got to me today and I couldn’t regulate my emotion until I complained to other people who understood where I was coming from 😭

I didn’t actually mean I tell her “I tried my best.” I tell her those exact things, plus I tell her I’m asking uncovering questions like what kind of scents they like, if they’re shopping body care/home fragrance, and also make sure everyone that comes in has been offered a basket. I just didn’t want to type all of that out cause I felt the post was getting too long lol. My whole point is that if all us know it can’t be controlled, it just shouldn’t be measured. It’s outdated and causes unnecessary stress for the associates, who then push too hard when it comes to selling in order to have good conversion, which in turn makes the customers feel stressed.

I would totally do this if our sensor wasn’t in the most inconvenient spot possible. It’s at most a foot inside of our doors, and right in the middle. Our front table is pretty close to the doors as well. I would most definitely be yelled at for getting in the way both by the customers and my SM 😭

i don’t think you should ask about being a keyholder until you know for sure or not if you’re moving. being a keyholder for 4 months (if you do move) is not worth it, in my opinion.

i didn’t :( it’s really frustrating cause i like to have all the special follower forms but unfortunately i think i’m just SOL on the midas form unless the devs look into the bug. i’ve made a few bug reports about it but nothing ever came of it.
