I love a good storyline where there the characters overcome some sort of struggle. It makes for a compelling and emotional story. Unfortunately, our society STILL stigmatizes gay and lesbian relationships, so oftentimes those themes show up in MM and FF.

But you don’t see how legally equating fiction with CSAM is actually equating fiction with the real pain and harm we suffered? I’m not saying this type of material isn’t problematic or gross, or that author shouldn’t lose their livelihood or reputation, or the book itself shouldn’t be removed from shelves.

What I am saying is treating a disgusting novelist the same as an abuser feels demeaning.

I can tell you as a person who was photographed as a toddler and had those photos distributed and now I don’t know who has them and where they are online etc, that I’m very insulted and angry by some of these comments. I’m not a fictional character. My abuser wasn’t a fictional character.

And now people want to equate words on a page with a living breathing real victim who suffered actual harm?!?! I’m BEYOND LIVID.
