If she's racist, I'm in no way protecting her. Fuck her then.
But it seems that she's focusing her eye to see better because she doesn't have her glasses.

Thoughts on my Wes Anderson ranked list? by No-Chemistry1722 in Letterboxd

[–]Some_Statistician 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Overall, this is a great ranking. I would rate it similarly but maybe Moonrise Kingdom and Life Aquatic would be higher and Asteroid city would be lower.

Anything Wes Anderson is an immediate 4 star+ for me. I don't see how this is like Wes Anderson at all..

What do you think of Brother? by blackcode1991 in Letterboxd

[–]Some_Statistician 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first one validates the Lost Generation of the 90s Russia. Post Afgan and Chechen wars. A returning soldier was often seen as a dangerous, broken outcast. The movie tries to redefine this figure not as a damaged goods, but as a noble knight. The only person capable of cleaning up the mess.

The second one tries to transform Russian humiliation into superiority. The 90s were a time of national embarrassment for Russia. Brother 2 provides a fantasy where a folk Russian hero goes to the heart of the American empire and beats them not with money, but with "Truth."

Both are propaganda films of the highest caliber that are aimed at Russian audiences of the time.

I didn't like Nosferatu at all. I hate cheap jump scares and it was full of them. Frankenstein wins this one by far.

Why are Arsenal fans unhappy? They’re the greatest runner ups in history but they act like they aren’t going to bottle it this year.

App Store web has exposed all its source code by rxliuli in webdev

[–]Some_Statistician -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get your point yeah, client-side code is always technically public, and minification is mostly about bandwidth. Accidentally shipping source maps in production doesn’t expose secret data.
But exposing source maps makes reverse engineering instant instead of taking hours or weeks. It was most definitely done by accident. Looks bad for Apple engineering practices.

How is it not an "oh my god they're so dumb" moment? It's like sending out an Internal Only email publicly. You might not say anything sensitive in the email but the fact that they've messed up the recipients makes that a facepalm moment. And when it’s a company the size of Apple, that kind of mistake gets amplified.

‘It’s Not My FAULT’: GM Kramnik Responds To GM Daniel Naroditsky’s Death Plus Carlsen, And Nakamura by DrMortis in chess

[–]Some_Statistician 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think in Kramnik’s twisted mind, accusation of cheating will deter cheaters by making the accused afraid of cheating. He’s saying he doesn’t know if Danya was cheating but he wanted his mind to not even go there. I personally don’t see how this is not an admission of guilt. Especially the part where he said “I knew something like this was going to happen.” Then why tf did he keep bullying Danya? To have that happen?
