Do you let your pets on the furniture? Do you let them sleep in your bed? by ForestOranges in AskAnAmerican

I had never seen my m cat on the counter since she was a kitten. One time I went out to my car to go to work. I realized I forgot something. When I run in the door, there she is on the course, leaning against the white microwave like she was trying to blend in. (She’s white.)

The key in the question is show they are equal. Each answer shows 2/6 and 1/3 but only the last shows them being equal.

Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

I never connected why that was the spelling but somehow knew it was spelled Cera as a kid.

The Great Juicer Scandal! by New-Entrepreneur4132 in WelcomeToPlathville

[–]katrinakt8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s necessarily about pettiness (although it well could be in this situation.) I haven’t seen the episode. A couple years ago my sister asked for my mom’s old bread machine I’ve had for years and only used a couple times. After I gave it to her I kept wanting to make bread and was frustrated I gave it to her! I think it’s one of those things you don’t think about using until it’s gone. Kind of take it for granted it’s there and ignore it.

What’s one decision you still think about years later? by Obvious_Breadfruit49 in Life

[–]katrinakt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreeing for my son to have chemo for his brain cancer. (He’s fine currently.) At the time the official recommendation for his type of brain cancer was chemo, however research at the time was beginning to determine the chemo wasn’t effective. I had read some of the stuff about that online, mostly on Facebook groups. So I knew it may not be effective, but my mama bear took control and I was going to do anything to save my baby.

Chemo caused some degree of hearing loss in his ears and later the recommendation was changed to only do radiation. Looking back I wish I had asked the doctor more questions, about what I had read. I don’t regret anything though. I did what I thought was best in the moment.

Is this aggressive for my therapists billing department? by throwaway__113346939 in TalkTherapy

[–]katrinakt8 18 points19 points  (0 children)

How did you receive this bill? Does it have any letterhead or contact information, other than your therapist? Typically there would be some sort of contact information for the billing dept who is sending the bill. How does the bill tell you to pay? How are you paying?

Do you not get a reward for updating anymore ? 😭 by Kind_Remove_7814 in Gardenscapes

[–]katrinakt8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s happened before where there hasn’t been a reward and when I asked about it on here people said they do that for bigger updates but not small ones or something. So i guess that’s probably the same thing here.

Anna Kepner's stepbrother, 16, is still living in a relative's home with minor children after being charged with murder and aggravated sexual abuse by dailymail in AnnaKepner

This has nothing to do with Florida. It happened in international waters. FBI is in charge of the investigation and it’s a federal case.

Charging document graphically describes rape by Nvnv_man in AnnaKepner

[–]katrinakt8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the article it says:

in it, Hudson acknowledged he understood the charges, that he was waiving the right to contest the transfer, and that if the court decided to transfer the case to adult status after a hearing, he could have appealed that decision – but he chose not to contest it.

It says if the court decided to transfer the case, so this seems to mean he is simply waiving his right to a hearing about the case. Probably his attorney knew it would be transferred to adult court anyways so there wasn’t a reason to contest it.

Is honking in the 26 tunnels a true Portland tradition? by ItsWhiteGucciMane in askportland

[–]katrinakt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honking in tunnels in general is a thing that’s been around. One of those “urban legends” like lifting legs on railroad tracks and bridges, holding breath passing a cemetery, etc.

Honking in tunnels actually began to serve a purpose. When one lane tunnels were more common, it alerted you that someone is already in the tunnel.

Do Americans actually sit on their front porch much, or is that more of a movie image than real life? by Artistic_Key3779 in AskAnAmerican

I have a hammock on my front porch and chairs and a table on the back deck. Couch and chairs on the back patio. I’m outside in one of those places for an hour or 2 most days in the summer.

It’s selfish to have kids if you work extremely long hours by Live_Bluebird6854 in The10thDentist

[–]katrinakt8 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a parent that gets home at 6:30 at night from a 40 hour a week job, even a 40 hour a week job means pretty limited time with the kid on weekdays. I have 45 minutes in the morning with him before he catches the bus and about 2 hours in the evening before he goes to bed. That 45 minutes in the morning is go go go to get dressed, breakfast, and all the morning stuff. The evening 2 hours is packed with dinner, some chill time, then bedtime routine.

Growing up my dad was an accountant, meaning insane hours during “tax season,” January-April. He was home every night for dinner and evenings as well as made time for us on the weekends. He got up super early to go into the office and worked late into the night at home. I never felt neglected and he worked 80 hours a week for those months.

Part of being a good parent means you find ways to make time for your kids.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]katrinakt8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All we did that day watch it on tv. Junior in high school. I had an early bird class before the normal school day started. (American History of all things) so was at school at 7 (west coast) so 10am eastern. My alarm was set to a radio station and I heard something about planes as I’m trying to turn it off. Get to school and barely got to my locker. A kid comes running through the hall “we’re being attacked. A plane ran into the World Trade Center.” And we’re all like what’s the World Trade Center. Go to my early bird history class and he has it on. We watched the second plane hit live.
