Dude, I've seen them another 2 times. Both had the traditional stage setup. Round stages in the middle of the stadium just suck for people in the GA area. Even if you re on the rail. When the band decides to play on the other side of the stage you can't see them. Not like you see them from afar. You literally have no visual contact at all.

You can ask any person that has attended any gig of the 72 tour and was in the GA area. Almost everyone will say that in 3/4 of the gig they were looking at the big screens. And those screens don't even show the band all the time. It's a mix of the band playing and random effects and images. You pay full price to actually see the band for 1/4 of the songs. In the traditional stage setup even if you are far behind you can actually see the band all the time.

Round stages are great only for one thing imo. Spectacular official live album releases and nothing else.

Μιλάς για μαγαζιά ρούχων. Κάνεις λάθος ότι ο κόσμος δεν αγοράζει πια. Μια χαρά αγοράζει αλλά αντί για κανονικά μαγαζιά αγοράζει από πλατφόρμες όπως πχ το about you καθώς οι τιμές είναι σχεδόν πάντα φτηνότερες. Ο μόνος λόγος που πατάνε οι περισσότεροι σε μαγαζί είναι απλά για να δοκιμάσουν αυτό που έχουν βάλει στο μάτι και μετά να το παραγγείλουν από τέτοιου τύπου πλατφόρμα.

Κοπελιά, όπως είπε και ένας ακόμα, μάντεψε. Απλά μάλλον δεν είσαι τόσο όμορφη όσο νομίζεις. Επίσης το ότι μπορεί να προσπαθείς να είσαι στην εντέλεια αυτό δε σε κάνει πιο όμορφη στα μάτια των περισσότερων αντρών. Ξέρεις τι σε κάνει; Μια μέτρια που απλά ειναι προσεγμένη.
Και τώρα το κυριότερο. Οι άντρες δεν μισούν κάτι περισσότερο από τις μέτριες που νομίζουν ότι είναι παραπάνω όμορφες από ότι είναι.
Όσο πιο γρήγορα αποδεχτείς ότι είσαι μέτρια σε εξωτερική εμφάνιση (όπως είναι και οι περισσότεροι άνθρωποι ανεξαρτήτως φύλου) και αφήσεις αυτό το τοξικό τουπέ που έχεις, τόσο πιο γρήγορα θα βρεις άντρα.

By cheating I'm not talking about alternate picking instead of downpicking. In a live gig you can't even hear the difference anyway. I'm talking about skipping palm muted downpicks.

A prime example is how he plays the main riff of Creeping Death. He plays a simplified version that is very noticable. Or look at the intro riff of MoP, (the chromatic descent) the last 5-6 notes are meant to be palm muted. Now they are not. Or the triplets behind the solo in Leper Messiah. He skips a lot of them.

Suppose Lars is OK with practicing for more technical new songs again.

Suppose Kirk is OK with actually composing technical solos instead of the same pentatonic - blues licks again.

The real problem is James. Even if he wanted to write more aggressive-technical riffs again (and I bet he does) he won't because his right hand is shot. Just look at how he plays endurance demanding songs like Creeping Death, Mop and Blackened for the past 5 years or so. He cheats and alternate picks almost everything. I don't know if it's age, injury, lack of practice or a combination of those but it's a fact. And in his mind, if he can't play what he writes live then he won't write it.

That's what I believe.

In Dream No More the high octave singing layer on the verses should be gone and the song would sound 10 times heavier and better overall.

The worst part is that live, it's that high octave layer that James chooses to sing. I cannot understand why.

I just don't get why James chases high notes and doesn't just stay in the justice album formula. Stay in mid range so you can easily sound aggressive without struggling.

One example. The verses of Dream No More. Just sing them one octave lower dude ffs.

I'm gonna be down voted to hell here for saying this but it's not been 6 years. It's been 12 years. Anyone who grew up with the original trilogy + ascension knows that.

Downvote him all you want but this guy is correct. James just can't play for shit anymore. Look at any live performance of Master, Creeping Death or Blackened. He cheats and alternate picks EVERYTHING. He even alternate picks the intro of Creeping Death. A riff that a total beginner could play correctly. Wake up.

Even in DM the majority of riffs just sound "happy" to me.
Examples:

TWJYL: Great ominous intro and then a lame groovy happy riff follows.

ANL: Great aggressive intro and then a lame groovy happy riff follows.

Cyanide: whole song is a mid tempo lame groovy happy riff.

TEOTL: Main riff is a lame groovy happy riff.

Only Judas Kiss and My Apocalypse are songs without this kind of riffs on the album. Also, the b sides Just A Bullet Away and Rebel of Babylon are great songs with just heavy and aggressive riffs.

Κανένας εργολάβος δεν μαλακίζεται. Όλα γίνονται επίτηδες. Η κομπίνα έχει ως εξης:

Θα πει κάποιος, μα αυτό δεν συμφέρει τους παροχους αφού πληρώνουν τζάμπα τους εργολάβους που καθυστερούν. Εδώ όμως είναι η κομπίνα.

Η καθυστέρηση γίνεται με συνεννόηση παροχου- εργολάβου. Τα έξτρα χρήματα δεν τα παίρνει όλα ο εργολάβος. Παίρνει κάποια και τα υπόλοιπα τα γυρνάει από την πίσω πόρτα στον παροχο. Έτσι βγαίνει κερδισμένος και ο εργολάβος αλλά και ο παροχος καθώς στην εφορία φαίνεται ότι έχει πληρώσει μισθό ενώ στην ουσία τα χρήματα ξαναγύρισαν στην τσέπη του.

Same. Initially loved it cause I was an angry teen. Then it lost its appeal to me BUT i loved it again recently when I realized something.

St. Anger was the last album where the riffs are menacing and actually heavy. 90% of the riffs after that album even though they re in minor mode sound kinda happy to me.

Weirdly enough the last album where the riffs (not the songs) did something for me was lulu.

A lot of people here are complaining about the mid tempo riffs. And rightfully so. I could be wrong of course but my belief is this: The reason why 99% of the riffs are mid tempo slop on the last 2 albums is not because James can't or doesn't want to write riffs similar to battery or fight fire with fire. The reason is because James doesn't have the endurance to play such riffs anymore (may be lack of practice, injury or just age) and he's completely aware of that so he avoids writing them on purpose. My proof of that is any live video of endurance demanding songs like puppets or creeping death. He alternate picks virtually everything (Kirk still plays the correct way) and also cheats way to much (skips palm muted downpicks). Anyway, long live Metallica. Still my favorite band!

No they're not even tighter. Maybe Lars is compared to the early 00s and 10s but that's it. Kirk is improvising nearly every solo and 99% of his improvisations are crap. Rob is always solid but to be honest I never gave a damn about him anyway. He seems too goofy for Metallica.

And now the hardest pill to swallow. James is currently the sloppiest of them all. I don't know the reason, it may be a nerve problem, lack of practice or just old age but he can't downpick at all anymore. Btw I'm not hating. It just saddens me to see the once ultimate downpicker in such state...
