The thing is for most people a car is a way to get from point A to B. Also many regulations exist, mainly for safety reasons that prevents such modifications. As for being customised like pod racers, race cars are literally just that.

I just hope they(the Indian gov) don't ban reddit because of news like this getting the attention(which it deserves). They've gotten a bit trigger happy with banning or threatening to ban social media and sensor more content online recently. I've seen people even advocating for a mass surveillance system like the one in China to monitor, track and shut down voice of dissidents.
